Ty Pennington’s net worth is estimated at $5.6 million as of November 2026. He spent nine seasons rebuilding other people’s homes on ABC, and his publisher once gave away a $25,000 kitchen to sell his memoir. That prize is a third of the $75,000 one Extreme Makeover episode is said to have paid him, a figure we could not confirm and do not use in our sum.

How much is Ty Pennington worth in 2026?

We estimate $5.6 million, with a fair range of $4 million to $10 million. This one is a rough estimate: little of the money is documented. ABC and HGTV have never published his pay, and no contract has surfaced, so most of the ledger is our own reasoning, shown row by row.

What is on record is the work: two Emmys and more than 200 homes rebuilt from 2003 to 2012, and a run on HGTV’s Rock the Block that began in 2021 and is booked into 2027.

How Ty Pennington built it

  • Argued for his own worth. He left Trading Spaces after deciding he was worth more than he was being paid.
  • Sold products beyond the show. He put his name on a Sears line and, in 2022, a decor range with At Home.
  • Kept working into his sixties. He hosted Rock the Block in 2026 at 61 and is due back for Season 8 in 2027.

How we got to $5.6 million

Source Our estimate What it rests on
Extreme Makeover pay, after tax and spending $3 million Our assumption: $40,000 average across about 200 episodes is $8 million. Half goes to tax and fees, a quarter of the rest is spent.
HGTV years, 2021 to 2026 $1.1 million Our assumption: $500,000 a year for six years is $3 million, with the same half to tax and fees and a quarter of the rest spent.
Product lines, endorsements and books $1.5 million Our assumption: $4 million since the 2000s, about $200,000 a year, from the Sears line, the At Home range, Karndean and others. No deal value is public. Same tax and spending.
Total $5.6 million Rows add up to the headline. We count no gain on his Savannah home, since we found no purchase price, and buying it would have come out of the savings above.

The $75,000 number, and what it can actually buy

The most repeated figure about his money is $75,000 an episode for Extreme Makeover. It turns up in entertainment coverage, never with a source in what we saw, and we could not trace it to a contract or an interview. So we tested it instead of repeating it.

Take it at face value for all 200 homes. By our calculation that is $75,000 times 200, or $15 million before tax. Half to tax, agents and fees leaves $7.5 million, and that is the ceiling, because we doubt a first-season host was on a final-season deal. He had already left Trading Spaces over this exact subject. “I knew I was worth more than I was being paid,” he told People. So we use a $40,000 average, which gives $8 million gross and $3 million after tax and spending.

Public estimates for him run from about $6 million to $20 million. The top of that range only works if gross pay counts as money kept, ignoring the 14 years since the show ended. Ours sits just under the bottom for that reason.

A second career with a smaller stage

At its peak, Extreme Makeover averaged 15 million viewers. His later work has been steadier and less grand. Rock the Block is the anchor: Season 7 premiered on April 13, 2026, in Las Vegas, with each team handed $275,000 to spend. At that repeated $75,000, it would take 3.7 Extreme Makeover episodes to cover one team’s budget. The host, for his part, doesn’t get a street named after him. The winners do.

He turned 62 on October 19, 2026, and he is due back in 2027 to host Season 8 from Nashville, which is the clearest thing that would move this figure: every extra year of hosting adds about $190,000 on our assumptions.

Selling the look as well as the labor

He has spent nearly two decades putting his name on things people buy for their houses. There was a Sears home goods line, a quarterly magazine from 2007 to 2009, a design company in Atlanta and Los Angeles, spokesman work for a mortgage lender from 2014, and a brand ambassador role with Karndean Designflooring since April 2024. In 2022 he added a beach-themed decor line with At Home. None of these deals has a public price, which is why the row above is wide open to correction.

Ty Pennington net worth FAQ

How much did Ty Pennington make per episode of Extreme Makeover?

A figure of $75,000 an episode is widely repeated but unconfirmed. Across about 200 episodes that would be $15 million before tax, though we assume a lower $40,000 average because early seasons likely paid less.

Yes. He hosted Rock the Block Season 7 in spring 2026 and is due to host Season 8, set in Nashville, in 2027.

Why wasn’t he in the 2025 Extreme Makeover revival?

ABC did not include him in its short-lived 2025 version of the show. He had appeared as a guest star in the 2020 reboot hosted by Jesse Tyler Ferguson.

Yes. Ty’s Tricks came out in 2003, Good Design Can Change Your Life in 2008, and his memoir, Life to the Extreme, in 2019. No sales figures are public.

How old is Ty Pennington?

He was born Gary Tygert Burton on October 19, 1964, so he is 62.
