Tyler Oakley is an American YouTube and podcast personality, humorist, author and activist and his current net worth is $14 million.
Born in Michigan as one of the twelve children of his parents, Tyler’s parents divorced quickly after.
While in sixth grade he moved to a different city and showed interests in choir and drama class.
At the same time he developed an eating disorder, which he struggled with until he finished high school.
After he completed high school, he went to Michigan State University where he majored in communication, marketing and social media.
During that time he became involved with YouTube and started using the site to communicate with his friends who went to different school.
His first video, Raindrops, which he uploaded it in 2007, received over 420,000 views on YouTube.
While a freshman at Michigan State University he started his channel which now has over 615 million views and over 8 million subscribers.
Tyler, who is openly gay, dedicated his activism to LGBT youth and LGBT rights. He also took his activism raise awareness to social issues such as healthcare, education and the prevention of suicide among LGBT youth.
On his YouTube channel, he posts regularly material on different subjects such as queen politics, pop culture and humor.
Oakley co-hosted a weekly pop-culture news update named “Top That!” with Becca Frucht for PopSugar until October, when he announced his departure.
He has hundreds of thousands of followers on Facebook, Instagram as well as on Tumblr. He released his first collection of funny personal essays under the name of Binge in 2015.
In 2016 The Tyler Oakley Show, with Oakley as host of the show, premiered. The show airs weekly on Ellen DeGeneres’ ellentube platform.
