The meme with the face of this little guy is still used on the internet nowadays.
It’s the meme where the kid at the beach has a fist clenched full of sand and he is looking like he just conquered the world.
Sammy Griner wasn’t yet a year old in August 2007 when his mother, photographer Laney Griner, took a picture of him on the beach with a handful of sand.
She titled the picture: “Why I oughta…”and posted on her Flickr profile.
Until one day, when the photo showed up on the net with a crying child superimposed behind Griner. The caption “I hate sandcastles” was brilliant.
Over time, Griner became known as “Success Kid” his fist pump and look of determination inspiring many memes about success, strength and determination.
