4. You Spend Money Even When You are Not Using It
Unless you have a private beach house with a private space to dock your yacht, you are going to spend even more money on berthing. As if that is not bad enough, there are only a few marinas that are large enough to provide berths for large yacht.
With just a few available spots, it should come as no surprise that berthing cost is high. Let’s take a look at Port Hercule in Monaco. For 200-feet-long boats, around $1,400 is charged for one day berthing.
However, during the Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix, there are no spots available. And year-round berthing is only for Monaco residents. Some other marinas do not even allow berthing for more than three days.
Of course there are other cheaper berths. But do you really think your exclusive yacht belongs to those mediocre harbors?
