8. Mars (Sales Revenue: $33 billion)
Trick or Treat? It’s candy time!
I am pretty sure that all of you have eaten or bought at least one of the Mars’s candies. And yes, I have some of them in my fridge right now. Milky Way, Snickers, and M&Ms are popular not just in United States, but also worldwide. Mars is indeed responsible for making us crave for more nougat!
Apparently, Mars’s candy is not the only thing I have in my house. I also have their world-renowned dog food, Pedigree. And some of you, cat people, may have their Whiskas products as well.
Mars is generating around $33 billion a year mostly from selling these products. With such staggering income, it should not come as a surprise that the company’s owner, the Mars family, is the world’s 5th richest family with $78 billion of estimated net worth.
Frank Mars started the candy-selling company from a small kitchen back in 1911. Then, about eighteen years later, his son, Forrest joined in. That was the beginning of flavored nougat invention. It became the basis of Snickers, one of the world’s bestselling nougat candy bars.
