1. History Supreme – $4.5 billion
You would have thought that the world’s most expensive yacht is at least one of the biggest one out there. But the History Supreme is only 100-foot long.
So, what makes this yacht worth $4.5 billion and cost more than any other ever built?
There are only two words in a name to answer that question: Stuart Hughes. If you are a fan of Apple, you should get the idea by now. He is the designer of the world’s most expensive Apple product. He turned regular iPhone, iPad, and MacBook into some precious luxury products which worth hundred times more expensive.
And as if those are not enough, he took on another challenge: turning a simple 100-foot yacht into the world’s most expensive. He impressed a Malaysian businessman, Robert Kuok, who bought the yacht after three years of making.
First of all, the History Supreme’s exterior is plated by 100,000 kilograms of gold and platinum. Second of all, its interior features meteorite rock wall and a statue made of T-Rex bones.
I bet Mr. Kuok did not read my Reasons Not to Buy an Expensive Yacht article before he made the whopping purchase.
Sadly, it turns out that the History Supreme Yacht never became a reality and it was a just a project to see how much something like this would cost.
