Several favorites from the first version of this article have been replaced: the InterContinental is now the Regent, and Conrad, W Hong Kong and The Mira dropped out of the top 10.

1. Rosewood Hong Kong
Rosewood Hong Kong opened on March 17, 2019 at Victoria Dockside in a 65-storey tower designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox, with interiors by Tony Chi. Rosewood has held three Michelin Keys since 2025, and in 2026 it stayed the only Three-Key hotel in Hong Kong. It also ranked number one in a global best-hotels list in 2025 and again in 2026.
The 12,000-square-foot penthouse, Harbour House, takes up the entire 57th floor and has two private pools. Seven restaurants include Summer Palace and Restaurant Petrus, which have each held a Michelin star.
2. The Upper House
The Upper House opened in October 2009 on floors 38 to 49 of the JW Marriott building at Pacific Place. Swire Hotels manages it and designer André Fu aimed for the feel of a private residence.
From 2023 to 2026 it placed in the top ten of a global best-hotels list every year, and it has become a favorite of the design and creative crowd.
3. Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong
The Mandarin opened in 1963 on Connaught Road Central and was the tallest building in Hong Kong at the time, with 26 storeys. Guests choose from 501 rooms, 67 of them suites, plus ten restaurants and bars.
Pierre Gagnaire’s Michelin-starred restaurant Pierre closed in 2020, so older write-ups of the hotel’s dining are out of date. Mandarin Oriental also runs a second Hong Kong hotel that returned after an extensive renovation and earned two Michelin Keys in 2026.
4. The Peninsula Hong Kong
The Peninsula opened on December 11, 1928 and was the first hotel under the Peninsula name. The Kadoorie family built it to be the finest hotel east of Suez, and its fleet of Rolls-Royces painted Peninsula green is one of the city’s best-known sights.
After the 1994 tower expansion the hotel reached around 300 rooms. A HK$450 million refurbishment in 2013 added touch-screen tablets in the rooms. Gaddi’s and Felix are the dining rooms most associated with it.
5. Four Seasons Hotel Hong Kong
Four Seasons opened in September 2005 in the International Finance Centre complex. The 399 rooms, 54 of them suites, come in either Western contemporary or Chinese-influenced styles with gold leaf and sculpted furnishings.
Its restaurant Lung King Heen became the first Chinese restaurant to receive three Michelin stars in 2009. It was raised from one Michelin Key to two in 2026.
6. The Ritz-Carlton, Hong Kong
The Ritz-Carlton opened on March 29, 2011 in the International Commerce Centre and was the world’s highest hotel until Shanghai Tower surpassed it in 2020. It remains the highest five-star hotel in Hong Kong.
Tin Lung Heen has held two Michelin stars since 2013, and Tosca di Angelo holds one. Guest keycards are required in the elevators that serve the rooms on levels 106 to 117.
7. Regent Hong Kong
This waterfront hotel opened in 1980 as The Regent, became the InterContinental in 2001, and ceased operations on April 20, 2020 for a three-year renovation. It reopened as the Regent on November 8, 2023.
The 497 rooms were designed by Hong Kong-born Chi Wing Lo and opened in stages from March 2023. In June 2024 the hotel unveiled its Signature Suite Collection of three suites with private rooftop terraces.
8. Island Shangri-La
Island Shangri-La opened on March 1, 1991 in Two Pacific Place, a 57-storey tower in Admiralty. The tower holds 557 guest rooms, 34 of them suites, and eight restaurants.
Listings place room rates from around US$606 and suites from US$1,041 a night, though that data is undated. Confirm rates with the hotel.
9. The Murray, Hong Kong
The Murray occupies the former Murray Building, a 27-storey government office completed in 1969 and the tallest government building in Hong Kong at the time. The hotel opened in 2018.
It is listed among the Hong Kong hotels honored in the 2026 Michelin Keys.
10. Grand Hyatt Hong Kong
Grand Hyatt opened on November 21, 1989 beside the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Dining runs across 11 outlets and the Plateau Spa, converted in 2004 for about US$10 million.
