How Devin Booker built it

  • Committed to one franchise early. He signed with Phoenix in 2018, 2022 and 2025, and the current deal runs through 2029-30.
  • Locked in Nike through 2029. He extended in July 2022, and his Book 1 signature shoe followed in spring 2024.
  • Sold a house for a small gain. He bought in May 2017 and sold for $3.45 million in 2020, about $200,000 above his cost.

How much is Devin Booker worth in 2026?

Our figure is $155 million, in a range of $120 million to $190 million. Salary is well documented: Basketball Reference lists career earnings of at least $270,586,229, a total that doesn’t yet count the 2026-27 season, which has only just begun. Nike’s terms have never been published, so that row is our assumption.

Public estimates scatter because several repeat a nine-figure Nike contract we couldn’t trace to any report, and older ones miss the $53.1 million he was paid for 2025-26 alone.

How we got to $155 million

Source Our estimate What it rests on
NBA pay through 2025-26 $135.3 million Half of $270.6 million. Keeping half is our assumption, for federal tax, state tax on home and road games, and agent fees.
Nike and other endorsements $26.5 million Assumption: $3 million a year for seven seasons, then $8 million a year for four after the July 2022 Nike extension through 2029. That is $53 million before tax, half kept. No value has been disclosed.
Living costs minus $22 million Assumption: $2 million a year for 11 seasons, including homes in Paradise Valley, Arizona.
Investment returns $14 million Assumption: savings averaging $50 million, earning 4 percent a year after tax, for the seven years since his $158 million deal began. 50 times 0.04 times 7 is 14.
Total $155 million The rows sum to $153.8 million, rounded. Pay is documented, the rest is assumed.

The $145 million extension that now reads $133 million

In July 2025, the Associated Press reported a two-year, $145 million extension through 2029-30. Front Office Sports called the $72.5 million average the largest ever at that point, ahead of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s $71.25 million.

The current salary table shows something smaller: $64,065,952 for 2028-29 and $69,191,228 for 2029-30. Together that is $133.3 million, about $11.7 million or 8 percent under the headline number, by our calculation. The table doesn’t say why, and it lists only $182.2 million of the remaining money as guaranteed. Since that sum stops at 2028-29, the final $69.2 million isn’t locked in by that count.

A July 2026 Sports Illustrated piece put the deal at four years and $250.6 million, close to our $251.4 million sum of the four listed seasons, and noted that one ranking called it among the worst contracts in the league. For a page about his money, that is a compliment.

Five games of pay, one house

Booker bought a Paradise Valley home in May 2017 and sold it for $3.45 million in 2020, about $200,000 more than he paid, after first asking $4.195 million. His 2025-26 salary of $53,142,264 works out to about $648,000 for each of 82 scheduled games, so that sale price equals a little over five games, by our math. He bought another house there for $3.5 million in 2019.

What Nike is getting

The Nike Book 1 arrived in spring 2024, and 28 NBA players wore it in 2024-25, third behind Kobe Bryant’s shoes (130) and Kevin Durant’s (30), according to a count cited by Sports Illustrated. No sales number exists. We set the deal at $8 million a year because a signature line and a contract running to 2029 suggest more than a standard endorsement, but this is a judgment and could be off by a wide margin.

What would move the figure is simple arithmetic: $251.4 million of scheduled pay, half kept, adds about $126 million by 2030 before spending. A trade changes the city and not the salary, while skipping the 2029-30 year would take roughly $35 million off that after-tax sum.
