How much is Klay Thompson worth in 2026?

We estimate about $170 million, with a range of $130 million to $210 million. Season-by-season pay is public, and a contract table adds up to about $301 million from his 2011 rookie year through 2025-26. Everything after that is us turning gross pay into money kept, and the Anta line is partly a guess, since its incentives were never published.

How Klay Thompson built it

  • Stayed with a Chinese shoe brand. He renegotiated with Anta in 2017, and the deal could reach $80 million over 10 years.
  • Signed big at his peak. His 2019 Warriors contract paid $189.9 million, about 63 percent of his career pay.
  • Traded salary for a new team. He gave back about $9.8 million in 2026 to leave Dallas and sign with Miami.

How we got to $170 million

Source Our estimate What it rests on
NBA salary through 2025-26, after tax and fees $150 million $301 million gross across 15 seasons. We assume he kept half after federal tax, California tax for 13 seasons, agent fees and escrow: our assumption.
Anta shoe deal $30 million The 2017 deal could reach $80 million over 10 years with incentives, CBS Sports reported. We assume $60 million actually paid, then keep half. The later lifetime deal has no public price, so it adds nothing here.
Lifestyle spending minus $45 million Assumption: $3 million a year for 15 seasons.
Investment returns $35 million Assumption. The rows above leave $135 million. We assume about $70 million invested on average for 10 years at 5 percent.

Total: $170 million. His $13.26 million for the current season is still being paid, so it isn’t counted yet.

Why he gave back $9.8 million

HoopsHype’s league sources, via Yardbarker, put his buyout concession at about $9.8 million of a $17.46 million final Dallas season. That left $7,660,317 from the Mavericks. He then signed with Miami for $5.6 million this season and a $5.88 million player option next season, the same contract table shows. Early reports from ESPN said nearly $13 million for the Heat deal, but the signed version came in at $11.48 million.

Here is our calculation. This season he collects $7.66 million plus $5.6 million, or $13.26 million, which is $4.2 million less than staying put. Pick up the option and the two-year total reaches $19.14 million, or $1.68 million more than the $17.46 million he gave up. Moving costs him money only if he declines that option and earns nothing better.

The contract that did the heavy lifting

His 2019 Warriors deal paid $189.9 million across five seasons, topping out at $43.2 million in 2023-24. That is 63 percent of his $301 million in career pay, by our math. His Dallas deal paid $15.9 million in its first season, about 37 percent of that peak.

One public estimate from late 2024 sat at $70 million. By then, half of the 2019 contract alone would have come to $95 million, so that figure looks stale or very conservative. Other public estimates go higher by treating gross contract totals as money in the bank.

$8 a pair

CBS Sports reported in June 2017 that his renegotiated contract could reach 10 years and $80 million, with a term through 2026. In February 2026 he signed a lifetime contract with the brand, and Bleacher Report said more than 10 million pairs of his shoes have sold. Set the two numbers side by side and the maximum $80 million works out to about $8 per pair, our calculation and a rough one, since the sales count and the contract don’t cover identical years. A sneaker line selling at that volume gives Anta a reason to keep paying long after he stops playing.

That lifetime contract is what would move this figure most. Its price is undisclosed, and we carry it at zero. The other date to watch is summer 2027, when he decides on the $5.88 million option.
