How much is George Russell worth in 2026?
We estimate $54 million, built almost entirely from pay. Mercedes publishes no driver salaries, so every pay figure here is a report and the true number could sit some way either side. Public estimates differ for a plain reason: some stop counting at the end of 2025, before his biggest raise, and others quote gross pay as if no tax had been paid. The ledger counts a full year of 2026 pay even though the season still has races left, which is our assumption.
How George Russell built it
- Came through the Mercedes juniors. He joined the junior programme in 2017 and became a full-time Mercedes driver in 2022.
- Spent three years at Williams. He raced for Williams from 2019 to 2021 on reported pay of under £1 million a year.
- Tied his future to results. His contract renews for 2027 only if he hits a performance target in 2026.

| Source | Our estimate | What it rests on |
|---|---|---|
| F1 salary, 2019 to 2025, gross | $48.8 million | £38.53 million in a reported year-by-year table, converted at that table’s own rate of about $1.27 to the pound. |
| F1 salary, 2026, gross | $34 million | Reported base salary from a table published in March 2026. Sponsors and partnership bonuses aren’t included in it. |
| Bonuses and personal sponsors | $15 million | Our assumption: $3 million a year for his five Mercedes seasons. No bonus figure is documented on a page we could open. |
| Tax and fees | minus $34.2 million | Our assumption: 35 percent of the $97.8 million gross. We found no confirmed tax residence, so this is a middle case. |
| Living costs | minus $9.8 million | Our assumption: 10 percent of the gross. |
| Total | $53.8 million | The rows sum to $53.8 million, which we round to $54 million. |
Twenty-six days at Mercedes, three years at Williams
Salary Sport’s table lists £145,800 for 2019, £972,000 for 2020 and £810,000 for 2021, all at Williams. That is £1.93 million. The same table puts 2026 at £26.86 million, or about £73,600 a day (the page also shows £25.6 million in one place, so read this as approximate). By our calculation, the whole Williams spell equals about 26 days of his current pay.
Now the other end. The eight years in that table total £65.39 million, and 2026 is 41 percent of it. Say a reader had checked his career earnings in January: they would have been looking at a number that was about to rise by almost 70 percent in one season. His family’s early spending looks small in this light too. That page says his father spent roughly £1.5 million on his junior career, which is about 20 days of 2026 salary. We don’t deduct it, because nothing we opened says it was repaid.
$34 million or $40 million
Three reports, three answers. O Povo, using RacingNews365 data, published $34 million on March 8, 2026, up from $15 million and third on the grid. PlanetF1 wrote in October 2025 of a rise from $23 million to $30 million. Crash.net relayed a Daily Mail figure of £30 million a year without confirming it, and at the October 2026 average of $1.33 that is $39.9 million.
We use $34 million because it is the most recent table and it matches a second source. If the Mail is right, he gets $5.9 million more a year before tax. Our rows leave him 55 percent of gross, so that would add about $3.2 million for 2026.
The clause that decides 2027
Mercedes announced the new deal on October 16, 2025, without giving a length. Russell later confirmed the mechanism, ESPN reported: hit an undisclosed target in 2026 and the contract renews automatically for 2027. He has three wins this season and was fourth in the standings on 250 points after the Mexico City Grand Prix.
That clause is the thing most likely to move this page. Another year at $34 million leaves about $18.7 million on our assumptions, or roughly a third of his present net worth. A title would help too, though no bonus schedule is public.
Thin on sponsors, for now
A February 2024 newsletter called his personal sponsor list “a little thin”, naming Alpinestars, Bell and Puma. That is why our sponsor row is modest. Rosters change, so we would raise this row as soon as a deal has a number on it.
