Ian McKellen is an English actor and his current net worth is $70 million.
The second child of Margery Lois and Denis Murray McKellen was born in Burnley, Lancashire, and grew up to be one of the greatest stage and screen actors in the world, Sir Ian McKellen.
His family moved to Wingan, shortly after the outbreak of the WW2 and spent most of their time there until he was 12, before moving to Bolton in 1951.
What he lived through the war as a young boy, had a great impact on him, as he later admitted that “only after peace resumed… did I realize that war wasn’t normal”.

He continued his studies in English Drama, but felt like he should focus more on performing. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in 1961 and started his career in earnest.
In the next few years, the actor worked in theatre, with few people knowing about his homosexuality because he felt that it was no reason to go public, nor had he told his family.
In 1988, he publicity came out of the closet, while discussing Margaret Thatcher’s legislation, which would make the public display of homosexuality a crime.
It felt like it was the right time for him to come out and ever since he has been active in the Gay Rights movement.
He still does most of his work in theater, and in 1990 he was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II for his efforts in the arts.
But he has made some of the greatest films such as X-Men (2000), and its sequels, where he portrayed Magneto, a character that has brought him international fame.
He brought Gandalf from Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings film trilogy to life.
