How Raoul Pal built it

  • Quit managing money at 36. He left client money in 2004 and launched his research letter in January 2005.
  • Charged for depth. A 2014 post put his 100-plus page monthly letter at $40,000 a year.
  • Bet heavily on one view. He raised Bitcoin from 25 to 50 percent of his portfolio in 2020.

How much is Raoul Pal worth in 2026?

We get to $43 million, and this one is a rough estimate: little of the money is documented. He does not publish his holdings, the letter’s client count or Real Vision’s accounts. What we do have is one old subscription price, a stated crypto allocation and the price of Bitcoin. Public estimates disagree widely because they are struck at different points in the crypto cycle, and his fortune moves with it.

How we got to $43 million

Source Our estimate What it rests on
Savings from Goldman Sachs and GLG $5 million Our assumption. He retired from managing client money in 2004, aged 36, so we assume enough to stop, but no pay figure is public.
Global Macro Investor profits $21 million Our assumption: 50 members at the reported $40,000, or $2 million a year, at a 50 percent margin, for 21 years since January 2005. The price dates from 2014, and the client count is a guess.
Bitcoin gain since 2020 $17.4 million Half of about $21 million in savings by the end of 2020, so $10.5 million, up 165 percent from $29,002 to $76,940. The amount is our assumption. Both prices are real.
Real Vision stake $10 million Our assumption. He is co-founder and CEO, and we could find neither his stake nor a valuation. CoinDesk reported in June 2021 that the company was closing in on about $35 million from its own subscribers, with no valuation given.
Exponential Age Asset Management $0 added He co-founded it in 2021, but we found no assets or earnings figures.
Income tax $0 PwC’s tax summary says the Cayman Islands charges no income tax on individuals, and he lives there. Tax elsewhere in earlier years is ignored.
Spending minus $10.9 million Our assumption: 25 percent of the $43.4 million in savings, profits and gains.
Total $43 million The rows add up to $42.5 million, rounded to $43 million.

A $2.8 million swing for every 10 percent

Take Real Vision out and $32.5 million is left, of which $27.9 million is in crypto under our assumptions: the $10.5 million plus the $17.4 million gain. By our calculation that is 86 percent of liquid assets, which sits inside the 80 to 98 percent he has reportedly said publicly he keeps in crypto. Every 10 percent move in the market therefore shifts him about $2.8 million, close to three years of the letter’s assumed profit.

Run Bitcoin back to its $29,002 price from the end of 2020 and the $17.4 million gain goes away, leaving about $25 million. That is the bottom of our range. In reality he raised his Bitcoin share from 25 to 50 percent of his portfolio in 2020 and is reported to focus on Solana and Sui as well, so his real line may be wilder than a Bitcoin-only sum. We have no share counts for those, and they stay out.

The letter at the center

Global Macro Investor has run since January 2005, Real Vision’s biography says. His own description calls it a highly restricted membership of 100-plus page monthly reports, written from his home in Little Cayman at the end of each month. The only price we could open comes from a December 2014 post by the investor Howard Lindzon, who complained that he could never afford the $40,000 a year, and quoted Real Vision at $400 a year in the same post.

That price gap is why the letter dominates our ledger. Twenty-one years at even 50 members beats anything we can defend for the video business, which reports over 100 million views of his interviews but no revenue. Fifty members is a guess, and every 10 members more adds $4.2 million before spending under the same margin. A reader with the real client list could fix this page in one line.

What came before

He co-managed European equity hedge fund sales at Goldman Sachs and then the GLG Global Macro Fund in London, and has more than 30 years in finance by his own count. That job history is the source of his clients, which is a large part of why a letter could charge what it did.

What would move the figure

Bitcoin, first: it was $76,940 on November 3, 2026, the latest dated money fact we can tie to him. A priced funding round or sale of Real Vision would replace our $10 million guess with a real number, and it could go a long way in either direction.
