How much is Rob McElhenney Worth? Rob McElhenney Net Worth in 2026
Rob McElhenney’s net worth is estimated at $145 million as of November 2026, within a range of $75 million to $220 million. About two thirds of that sits in one asset: a share of a Welsh football club that he and Ryan Reynolds took over in 2020 for roughly $2.5 million in total, according to Front Office Sports. This is a rough estimate. The club stake is backed by real transactions, but his television pay is private and we have assumed it.

How much is Rob McElhenney worth in 2026?
We put McElhenney at about $145 million. The range is wide, $75 million to $220 million, and it moves almost entirely with one number: what Wrexham AFC is worth.
How Rob McElhenney built it
- Created the show himself. He co-created and stars in It's Always Sunny, which began in 2005 and was in its 18th season as of 2026.
- Bought a club nobody priced. He and Reynolds paid about $2.5 million in 2021; a 2024 stake sale implied about $136 million.
- Brought in outside money. Selling about 15 percent in 2024 and a minority stake in 2025 let them keep control while funding the stadium.

| Source | Our estimate | What it rests on |
|---|---|---|
| Share of Wrexham AFC | $94 million | Partly documented. We value the club at $250 million, between the roughly $136 million implied when a US family bought about 15 percent in October 2024 and the figure of up to $475 million that Bloomberg reported the club was weighing in 2025. Besides that 15 percent, Wikipedia records that owners of Club Necaxa bought 5 percent in April 2024, and Apollo bought a stake in December 2025 whose size was not disclosed (we assume 5 percent). That leaves the two owners about 75 percent, split equally, so 37.5 percent of $250 million. |
| It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia | $26 million | Assumption. He created and stars in a show that has run since 2005 and, as of April 2026, had an 18th season in the works. His pay and back-end share are private, so this is a guess after tax. |
| Mythic Quest | $12 million | Assumption. He co-created and starred in the Apple series, which ran from 2020 to 2025. No deal terms are public. |
| Welcome to Wrexham and production work | $8 million | Assumption. He is an executive producer of the documentary series about the club. Fees are not disclosed. |
| Alpine F1 team investor group | $5 million | Assumption. On 26 June 2023 an investor group including Reynolds and McElhenney was announced as buying a 24 percent stake in the Formula One team. The other members and individual amounts are not public, so $5 million is a guess. |
| Total | $145 million | Sum of the rows above. |
Only the first row has hard transaction data behind it, and even there the valuation is a judgement call. The television rows are plainly assumptions. We do not subtract money the owners put into the club, because the $250 million valuation is a value for the stake, not a profit on what was paid.
The 54 times question
Front Office Sports reported the purchase at about $2.5 million, and the October 2024 sale of roughly 15 percent to the Allyn family put the club at about $136 million. By our calculation, that is 54 times the purchase price ($136 million divided by $2.5 million). Our own $250 million valuation is 100 times it.
The club did not rise on luck alone. The same report gives revenue of $35.6 million in the year to June 2024, up 155 percent on the year before. The fair counter-argument is that the $475 million was only a figure under discussion, not a price anyone paid. That is why we use a middle number and not the top one.
Why other estimates disagree
Public estimates may rest on the purchase price, which ignores what outside investors later paid, or on the highest reported valuation applied without adjusting for the stakes sold. We sit between the two.
What changed in late 2025 and 2026
On December 9, 2025, the owners sold a minority stake to Apollo Sports Capital, Private Equity Wire reported, with terms undisclosed and the money aimed at stadium redevelopment. McElhenney also petitioned in June 2025 to change his last name to Mac, The Philadelphia Inquirer reported, which is why you may see either name.
What would move the figure: a further stake sale at a disclosed price, promotion up the English league pyramid, or an end to the club’s losses. A disclosed Always Sunny deal would sharpen the television rows.
