How much is Shane Warne worth in 2026?

We estimate about $54 million, in US dollars, and that money now belongs to his children and family, not to him. Australian dollars convert at about 1.433 to the US dollar, the rate on November 3, 2026, and rupees at about 94.7.

Public estimates disagree because most are older than the Royals sale. Some were built on career earnings and came in well above the probate figure, and none of those from before 2026 could use the 2026 price of the stake.

How Shane Warne built it

  • Took equity with the salary. His 2008 Royals deal paid a reported $657,000 plus 0.75 percent of the team per season.
  • Stayed four seasons for 3 percent. Playing from 2008 to 2011 took his reported stake to 3 percent of the franchise.
  • Built a second career in commentary. He worked for Nine, then Sky Sports from 2009 and Fox Cricket from 2018 until his death.

How we got to $54 million

Source Our estimate What it rests on
Estate at probate $14.4 million A$20.7 million in the Sydney Morning Herald’s February 2023 report on probate records. We could open only a summary, which rounds it to A$20 million. Divided by 1.433.
Rajasthan Royals stake, before tax $49.5 million Gulf News reported 0.75 percent per season, reaching 3 percent after four seasons. 3 percent of the $1.65 billion valuation agreed in May 2026, the latest price we could open.
Tax and costs on the stake Minus $9.9 million Our assumption: 20 percent of $49.5 million. The family’s tax position isn’t public.
Total $54 million Assumes the 3 percent wasn’t diluted and that it’s already absent from the probate total. Neither is documented, which is why the range is wide. The low end is close to the estate alone.

The best contract in the IPL

The Herald Sun reported that he was paid $657,000, without saying which dollars, and given 0.75 percent for each year after he came out of retirement in 2008. He said part of his deal came because he had retired from international cricket and returned, and he joked: “Three per cent of $400 million is all right.” That’s $12 million. The same report valued the franchise at $200 million.

The team cost $67 million in 2008. By our calculation, 3 percent of that is about $2 million and 3 percent of $1.65 billion is $49.5 million, so the stake rose about 24.6 times. It came out 4.1 times above his own hopeful sum.

After our 20 percent assumption the stake is worth $39.6 million, which is 73 percent of the headline. A clause did that, not the bowling. Gulf News put the children’s take at more than ?450 crore on the earlier $1.63 billion bid, and our $49.5 million converts to ?469 crore on the later price, so the arithmetic holds up.

What the will shows

The published breakdown names a A$6.5 million Mornington Peninsula property, A$5 million in a Commonwealth Bank account, more than A$2 million in shares and a A$1.2 million deposit on a St Kilda property, which is A$14.7 million. It also lists A$1.3 million in personal loans without saying which way they ran, and a car collection with no total. The Royals stake isn’t named, and if it does sit in the unexplained gap of up to A$6 million, we’ve overcounted by up to about $4.2 million.

The rest of his working life is harder to price. Nine reportedly paid about A$300,000 a year for commentary in the mid-2000s, and he signed with Sky Sports in 2009 and Fox Cricket in 2018. One 2022 report said the Royals paid $1.1 million in 2011 and that he bought a Brighton home for $5.5 million in 2018. It also listed poker income with no amount. We don’t add these separately, because whatever he kept should already be in the estate.

What would move the figure

Closing. The May 2026 deal needed approval from the IPL Governing Council, the BCCI and India’s competition regulator, with closing expected in the third quarter of 2026. We couldn’t confirm from any page we opened that those approvals came through or that the sale has closed. Existing investors were due to keep about 7 percent, so the family may hold shares rather than cash. An earlier $1.63 billion deal with a different group fell through, so treat this as a price, not yet a payment.
