How much is Strive Masiyiwa worth in 2026?

This one is a rough estimate: little of the money is documented. Masiyiwa’s holdings are a mix of private and listed companies, none of which publishes what he personally owns in dollars. What does exist is a few stake percentages, share prices and funding rounds, and we build from those.

Public estimates for him differ by well over $1 billion. They disagree mainly because they price his Zimbabwe-listed shares in different weeks, and the Zimbabwe dollar has repeatedly lost most of its value. We use $2 billion as a middle figure.

How Strive Masiyiwa built it

  • Built across many countries. Cassava operates in about 20 African countries, per a 2023 report.
  • Took outside money for growth. Cassava raised $90 million in 2025 from DFC, Finnfund and Google.
  • Placed a large bet on AI. Cassava's Nvidia AI factory plan could cost up to $720 million.

How we got to $2 billion

Source Our estimate What it rests on
Cassava Technologies about $1.1 billion Cassava holds Liquid Intelligent Technologies, Africa Data Centres and Cassava.ai, and a 2023 report in Forbes Afrique described it as the holding company for his technology firms, separate from Econet Wireless. Outside money has come in at the minority level, including a $90 million equity round in January 2025 from the U.S. development finance agency DFC, Finnfund and Google (Africa Private Equity News). His ownership share and the company’s value are our assumptions.
Econet Zimbabwe and EcoCash Holdings about $600 million Insider Zim reported in 2022 that he held 52.85 percent of Econet Zimbabwe and 30 percent of EcoCash Holdings, when falling prices of both shares helped cut his reported fortune by about $3 billion. We assume they are worth a fraction of their peak today.
Other holdings and cash about $300 million Dividends, earlier sales and smaller investments. No document shows this figure, so it is an allowance.
Total $2 billion Rough estimate. Range $1.3 billion to $3 billion.

Our calculation: Insider Zim put Econet Zimbabwe at $1.02 a share on May 1, 2022 and $0.36 by late August, a fall of 65 percent (0.36 divided by 1.02 is 0.35), and EcoCash Holdings from $0.51 to $0.12, a fall of 76 percent. Those two stakes moved his reported wealth that much, which is why we cap them at $600 million of our $2 billion total and distrust any estimate that treats them as stable.

The two collapses

The 2022 drop was not the first. In 2019 his fortune was reported to have roughly halved within months, after Zimbabwe banned the use of foreign currency and local assets fell. By May 2023 Forbes Afrique said it had risen more than 60 percent since January, as listed shares recovered. Few billionaires have a net worth that behaves like a currency chart.

The 2025 pivot to AI

In April 2025 Techpoint Africa reported, citing Bloomberg, that Cassava’s plan for an AI factory with Nvidia could cost up to $720 million, with GPUs going first to South Africa and later Egypt, Nigeria, Kenya and Morocco. Wikipedia adds that in November 2025 Cassava and Google announced a partnership to launch Gemini across Africa using those AI factories. These are bets, not income, so we do not add anything for them. A funding round or a rights offer in Cassava would change how much of it he owns.

What would move the figure

Three things: the Zimbabwe dollar and the local share prices, the next Cassava funding round and any listing, and how fast the AI data centers fill with customers.
