Motorsport fans know Nelson Piquet is a former formula 1 World Champion. He won the title three times in the 1981, 1983, and 1987. But not many people know that he started it off as a tennis player.
Well, it was just a brief career. He lost his interest in tennis and decided to go for karting instead. Thank goodness he did. And thank Emerson Fittipaldi for supporting him back then when his father did not.
After his retirement, he became a businessman. He founded his own GPS tracking company called Autotrac. And he also owns several other businesses in Brazil. From all of these, he gains himself $100 million of estimated net worth.
He keeps his love of sport alive through Piquet Sports, a racing team he founded to support his son, Nelson Piquet Jr., in Formula 3 championship.
