19 May 2016

They’re world-famous and they probably keep their diamonds on in the shower. No one does obscene wealth like the world’s richest rappers.

Hip-hop has long maintained a reputation of being full of attitude and extremely cash-rich. With their rags-to-riches stories, high-budget music videos, and the occasional criminal conviction, the 15 richest rappers in the world make for very interesting reading.

As we have accustomed you Aluxer, we dove deep into research to provide you with the most accurate Alux ranking possible.

So who are the richest rappers in the world, and what makes them so damn wealthy? It’s not really enough to music artists to just release albums and tour anymore, unfortunately. If they really want to make the big leagues, the world’s richest rappers have to invest in a diverse portfolio of businesses and ventures.

It doesn’t matter how weird or unrelated to hip-hop they are (though it does help when they’re super cool like restaurants and brands of vodka), as long as it brings in big cheques it doesn’t matter.

Let’s count down the 15 richest rappers in the world.

His hit song ‘Happy’ went triple platinum and sold 13.9 million units, becoming the most successful song of 2014, but it’s Pharrell William’s business ventures which have boosted his fortune substantially.

In 2012 he launched the record label ‘i am OTHER’, including a YouTube channel and clothing line. He’s also partnered with Billionaire Boys Club (which has several stores in North America, the UK and Europe) Louis Vuitton, Adidas, Moncler, Uniqlo and G-Star Raw to name just a few.

Branching out into composition, Pharrell can also be credited with the soundtrack of The Amazing Spiderman 2 and various songs from hit animation Despicable Me.
