1Silence
Use silence to your advantage when negotiating and in making people telling the whole truth.
I’ve saved the best for last! If you think that silence only offers uncomfortable moments, you are not using it the right way.
People will often do whatever it takes to break it, even say things they wouldn’t normally say. The next time you get a half answer from someone, just wait them out. Sit there quietly and politely. Then, sure enough you’ll get your full answer.
The reason this happens is that if they answer your question, but you sit in silence looking like you are still waiting, they will also feel like they’re not done and need to add something.
Most times, that extra something will be the real answer to your question.
This is like the “less is more” rule of persuasion.
It’s good to know how the brain works, right?
