The 1.47 million coincidence
Divide 25 million copies by 17 novels and each title averages about 1.47 million copies. That’s our calculation. It also happens to sit almost exactly on another number: 1,474,194 print copies sold in 2024, which her Wikipedia biography takes from a July 2024 Forbes article and which made her the fourth highest selling BookTok author. We couldn’t open the Forbes piece, and its date means that count can’t cover the full year. Even so, an average book in her catalog has sold about what her print sales came to in part of one year.
At $1.20 a copy, a title grosses about $1.76 million ($30 million divided by 17). After the 15 percent in costs and 40 percent in tax, we calculate she keeps about $900,000 a novel. Move the per-copy assumption by 25 cents and the total changes by roughly $3.2 million, so about 40 cents either way gives our range of $10 million to $20 million.
From Wattpad to a 61-week run
She says she wrote her first novel at 15 and uploaded it around 18. The business started later, when she began self-publishing during the pandemic and selling the books on TikTok. Twisted took off, Bloom Books republished the series in 2022, and Twisted Love stayed on the New York Times paperback fiction list for 61 weeks.
Foreign editions are a real slice of those copies. Her Spanish publisher says she has passed 600,000 copies in Spain on GfK data, with about 60,000 of them in the first five months of 2026. By our sum that’s 10 percent of her Spanish total in under half a year. In Britain, The Bookseller reported in May 2025 that King of Envy went straight to the top of the UK chart.
The money Hollywood hasn’t paid yet
Screen rights are about 5 percent of our gross so far ($1.5 million of $31.5 million). Reports in January 2025 described a seven-figure Netflix deal for Twisted Love and its sequels, though Netflix hadn’t commented at the time. In October 2025, Book Riot quoted her saying the script was still being written, with no cast or date. TV Movie reported in April 2026 that Amazon plans three Gods of the Game films, with Huang as an executive producer and the first expected in 2027 at the earliest.
