How much is Bob Iger worth in 2026?

We put Iger’s net worth at about $300 million. That is an estimate: executives of public companies disclose pay but not private savings, so every outside figure is a reconstruction. Public estimates differ widely. This one is a rough estimate: his pay is disclosed, but his savings are not.

The reason for the spread is simple. Some estimates add up his gross pay and stop. Others are years old and miss the stock he has sold and the taxes on it.

How Bob Iger built it

  • Bought studios with stock. Disney paid $7.4 billion in stock for Pixar in 2006 and later bought Marvel and Lucasfilm.
  • Started in a television newsroom. He joined ABC in 1974 and rose to run its entertainment division in 1989.
  • Came back when asked. He returned as CEO on 20 November 2022 after the board removed his successor.

How we got to $300 million

Source Our estimate What it rests on
First stretch as CEO, 2005 to 2020 $190 million Our assumption, since we did not open pay figures for these years: about $25 million a year across 15 years, roughly $375 million gross, and we keep half after tax and living costs.
Second stretch, 2022 to 2026 $70 million Disney’s proxy statements show $31.6 million for 2023 (per Wikipedia), $41.1 million for 2024 and $45.8 million for 2025 (per TheWrap), $118.5 million in total. We keep about 60 percent of that and ignore 2022 and 2026.
Disney shares and options still held $26 million A Form 4 filing for a sale in November 2024 shows 372,412 shares sold at an average $114.56, about $42.7 million, according to TipRanks. They came from exercising options struck at $92.235, so the gain was far smaller than the cash. That report puts his direct holding afterwards at 226,766 shares, about $26 million at the $114.56 sale price. It is a 2024 price, not a November 2026 quote, and we count no unvested awards.
Pre-Disney career at ABC $10 million Our assumption. Wikipedia says he joined ABC in 1974 and became president of ABC Entertainment in 1989; we have no pay figures for those years.

The rows add to $300 million, rounded. We add no separate return on savings, because those savings come from the pay already counted. Our calculation: $45.8 million divided by 365 days is $125,479 a day, and $56,932 divided by $125,479 is 0.45 of a day, or about 10.9 hours. Disney lists the same gap as a ratio of 805 to 1.

The Lakers line that is not in the number

In August 2026 it was reported that Iger and the venture investor Josh Kushner agreed to buy a controlling interest in the Los Angeles Lakers, at a price reported as $12.5 billion, according to Jewish Insider. Neither the split between the two buyers nor Iger’s cheque was disclosed, and the article does not disclose the size of the controlling interest. We have given it no credit, because an equity cheque is not the same as wealth: if he puts in $200 million of his own money, his net worth does not change, it just moves into a team.

The shopping list

Disney paid $7.4 billion in stock for Pixar in 2006, $4 billion for Marvel in 2009, $4.06 billion for Lucasfilm in 2012, and $71.3 billion for most of 21st Century Fox’s entertainment assets in 2019. Iger’s own books covered these deals in The Ride of a Lifetime (2019), which he wrote about his 15 years as CEO. We found no figure for his book income and have not counted it.

A CEO who left twice

He stepped down as CEO in 2020, resigned as chairman at the end of 2021, then returned on 20 November 2022 after the board removed his successor. The latest handover came on 18 March 2026, when Josh D’Amaro took over, with Iger staying as senior advisor and director through the end of 2026.

What would move the figure

His advisory contract ends with 2026, so the large annual pay cheques end too. TheWrap gave no figure for the advisory pay, so we cannot size that, and what remains is the Disney stock he holds and what his savings earn. A Lakers investment would not change net worth on its own, but a rise in the franchise’s value would.
