How much is Debbie Macomber Worth? Debbie Macomber Net Worth in 2026
Debbie Macomber’s net worth is estimated at $40 million as of November 2026. Her own site counts more than 200 million copies sold and over 1,000 weeks on the New York Times bestseller list, which is more than 19 years of a list that changes every week. At the roughly 50 cents a copy we think reaches the author, those sales come to about $100 million before an agent, a tax collector or a family gets near it.

How much is Debbie Macomber worth in 2026?
We put her at $40 million, in a range of $32 million to $48 million. The copy count comes from her side. The money per copy doesn’t come from anyone, because no publisher has disclosed her contracts, so the per-copy rate is our assumption and it drives almost the entire result. This one is a rough estimate: little of the money is documented.
Public estimates tend to run higher. A figure near $100 million would be about what we think her books grossed for her over four decades, before anything came out, which treats income as if it were savings. We also count this as household money: AARP reported in 2022 that her daughter, Adele LaCombe, is CEO of Debbie Macomber Inc., and we can’t see how the company’s holdings split across the family.
How Debbie Macomber built it
- Kept up two books a year. Her pace ran at two books a year, including a holiday novel each fall.
- Started seriously in her thirties. She began writing seriously in her 30s with a houseful of kids, and her first novel came out in 1983.
- Took her novels to television. Her Cedar Cove books became a three-season Hallmark series, with her as executive producer.

| Source | Our estimate | What it rests on |
|---|---|---|
| Book royalties and advances | $100 million | Over 200 million copies sold, per her site. Assumption: 50 cents a copy, about a 6 to 8 percent royalty on a $7 paperback. Hardcovers pay more, her 1980s category romances less. |
| Hallmark rights and producing | $3 million | Assumption: $600,000 a season for three seasons of Cedar Cove ($1.8 million) plus $200,000 each for six films ($1.2 million). No terms are public. |
| Agent fees | minus $15 million | Assumption: 15 percent of the $103 million above, or $15.45 million. |
| Income tax | minus $31 million | Assumption: 35 percent of the $87.55 million left, or $30.64 million. |
| Spending and giving | minus $17 million | Assumption: 30 percent of the remaining $56.91 million, or $17.07 million, across four decades that began with a houseful of kids. |
| Total | $40 million | Rows add to $40 million. Moving the per-copy rate to 40 or 60 cents gives the $32 million and $48 million ends of the range. We added nothing for investment returns or property, since we found no record of either. |
Most of the copies seem to have come after she turned 58
An old author bio still sitting on Hachette’s site, which refers to her September 2007 novel 74 Seaside Avenue, says her books had sold more than 60 million copies. Her own site was citing 200 million in print by July 2018. Taking those at face value, by our calculation 140 million copies arrived in about 11 years, or 12.7 million a year, worth $6.4 million a year to her at our rate. That’s 70 percent of her lifetime total, and it lands well after her first novel, Starlight, in 1983. There are two caveats: the bio is undated, so the 2007 timing is our inference, and one figure says sold while the other says in print, so the real gap is probably smaller. Even so, her money looks late rather than steady.
Spread evenly, the arithmetic is less dramatic. AARP counted more than 150 books, so 200 million copies is about 1.33 million a title, or roughly $667,000 of gross income per book. Our fees, tax and spending rows leave her about 39 cents of each dollar, so call it $258,000 per book kept. That’s still a good outcome for someone whose high school principal, by her account to AARP, looked sad when she said she planned to write books. She has dyslexia and started writing seriously in her 30s.
The screen money is small, and the yarn shop gets no row
Hallmark Channel began airing Cedar Cove in July 2013 as its first original scripted series, with Macomber as series developer and executive producer. It ran three seasons and ended in 2015. Six of her novels also became TV movies. All that sits in our ledger at $3 million, a guess that comes to 3 percent of her book income. The value of those shows probably lies in the paperbacks they helped sell, which we’ve already counted.
She also owned A Good Yarn Shop in Port Orchard, Washington, for about eight years until it closed on November 4, 2016. We found no revenue figures. A single knitting store is unlikely to change a $40 million total, so we left it out.
Two books a year at 78
AARP described a pace of two books a year, including a holiday novel each fall, and that still seems to hold. The OverDrive catalog lists A Ferry Merry Christmas under 2025, then Chasing the Clouds Away and A Date with Santa under 2026. Those titles are the latest dated money events we can point to, though what she was paid for them isn’t public.
The figure would move most on a sale of her backlist, or a new screen deal. Ordinary sales move it slowly. Another 10 million copies is $5 million gross at our rate, which turns into about $1.9 million after the same fees, tax and spending.
