Paul McCartney is an English singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and composer, and his current net worth is $1.5 billion.

Born in Liverpool, England to his mother Mary Patricia and James McCartney, Paul also has a younger brother named Michael.

He attended high school in Speke until 1949 when he transferred to another in Belle Vale because of overcrowding at Stockton.

In 1953, after passing some hard exams, he attended the Liverpool Institute, a grammar school.

In the following year, Paul met schoolmate George Harrison on the bus from his suburban home in Speke and the two quickly became good friends.

His mother, who was a midwife and the family’s primary income, died of an embolism when he was 14, which was also a point of connection between Paul and John Lennon, whose mother also died when he was young.

Paul’s father was a trumpet player and pianist, and often encouraged his sons to take piano lessons, but Paul liked to learn by ear.

After receiving a trumpet from his father for his 14th birthday, Paul traded it for a Framus Zenith acoustic guitar, because he wanted to sing while playing.

On the Zenith he wrote his first song I Lost My Little Girl, and composed another one that would become When I’m Sixty-Four on the piano.

He was influenced by American rhythm and blues, and the Little Richard was his idol while in school. Long Tall Sally, was the first song he ever sang in public, at a Butlins holiday camp talent competition.

Paul along with John Lennon, George Harrison and Ringo Starr were part of an internationally-famous band called The Beatles. The rock band is considered by many as the most popular and influential group in the history of pop music.

After the band’s break-up, he pursued a solo career and formed the band Wings with his first wife, Linda, and Denny Laine.

Today he is one of the most successful song composers and performers of all time, with more than 2,200 artists covering his Beatles song “Yesterday”, which is more than any other copyrighted song ever.

The 21-time Grammy Award winner McCartney, has written, or co-written, 32 songs that have reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100.

He and his fellow band members, all received The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (MBE) in 1965, and in 1997, McCartney was knighted for services to music.

So far he has released an impressive number of songs as solo artist as well as composing classical and electronic music.

Throughout his brilliant career he has also taken part in projects that promote international charities related to animal rights, seal hunting, land mines, vegetarianism, and poverty and music education.

He has fathered five children during his three marriages.
