Rhonda Byrne’s net worth is estimated at $60 million as of November 2026. The book that says thoughts attract wealth began with a mortgage: Byrne borrowed against her home to help pay for a $3 million film that her television partner then declined to air. The real money came from what happened next, a new contract that sent the DVD sales to her own companies and a book that has reportedly sold more than 34 million copies.

How much is Rhonda Byrne worth in 2026?

Our figure is $60 million, in a range of $30 million to $100 million. This one is a rough estimate: little of the money is documented. We know copies sold and a few gross sales figures, and we don’t know her royalty rate, how she split profits with her partners, or what she has done with the money since.

Public estimates we saw run well above ours, some into the hundreds of millions. The highest look like the $300 million gross reported for the book and film with little taken off for retailers, publishers, partners and tax. Gross is what shoppers paid, and an author sees a slice of it.

How Rhonda Byrne built it

  • Mortgaged her home first. Byrne borrowed against her home to help fund a film budgeted at about $3 million.
  • Kept the DVD sales. After Nine declined to air the film, a new contract sent DVD sales to her companies.
  • Kept publishing for 20 years. Five later titles followed, and Thought Rules launches in November 2026.

How we got to $60 million

Source Our estimate What it rests on
The Secret, the book $68 million A 2026 report says more than 34 million copies in more than 50 languages. Assumption: $2 a copy to her across hardcovers, paperbacks and foreign editions, since no royalty rate is public.
The film and DVD $16 million US DVD sales reportedly topped $65 million. Assumption: 40 percent margin, then 60 percent of that to her, since investor Bob Rainone ran one of the companies. That is $15.6 million.
Later books $20 million Five later titles from The Power to The Greatest Secret. No sales figures found, so we assume $4 million each.
Tax minus $42 million Assumption: 40 percent of the $104 million above, which is $41.6 million.
Twenty years of living costs minus $20 million Assumption: $1 million a year. She lived in Montecito for 15 years before moving to Ojai. We found no price for either home.
Investment returns $18 million Assumption: about $40 million of the $42 million left after tax and costs stayed invested for 15 years, earning 3 percent a year after tax and inflation, without compounding.
Total $60 million Rows sum to $60 million. Only the copy count and DVD sales are reported figures, and everything else is our assumption.

The bet on her own house

Byrne spent years making television in Australia, co-founding Prime Time Productions in 1994. For The Secret, the Nine Network put up less than 25 percent of a roughly $3 million budget, or at most about $750,000 by our math. Her mortgage and Rainone, a former internet executive in Chicago, covered the rest. Nine watched the result and passed, and the rewritten deal left DVD sales with Prime Time and The Secret LLC. Nine showed the film anyway on February 3, 2007, at about 10:30 at night.

That rewrite may be the most valuable thing she ever signed. US DVD sales of more than $65 million are about 22 times the $3 million budget, by our calculation, and that count leaves out the book. Marketing and distribution ran through TS Production LLC, described as a Hungarian company she owned, which is an odd detail for a Melbourne producer’s bestseller.

The 19 million copies that don’t add up

A widely repeated line says the book had sold more than 19 million copies by spring 2007. Publishers Weekly, writing in March 2007, counted 3.75 million in print in English, and an encyclopedia profile says four million sold in the first year. Foreign editions can’t easily close a gap of 15 million in a few months, when the same trade report had it in 22 countries. So we lean on the current 34 million figure and treat the older one with suspicion.

What the copy count means for her is simple arithmetic, and it swings the whole page. Every $1 of royalty per copy is $34 million before tax and about $20 million after our 40 percent. Change our $2 to $1 or $3 and the headline moves to about $40 million or $80 million.

Twenty percent of the gross

Set against the $300 million gross for the book and film, our $84 million in pre-tax income from those two is 28 percent, and our $60 million final figure is 20 percent. We calculate both from the ledger above. If that sounds low for a phenomenon, remember she had a publisher, retailers, partners and a tax office standing in line first.

A new book at 20

The latest dated event is close. A 20th anniversary edition of The Secret and a new book, Thought Rules, launch in November 2026, and she is due to speak in Summerland, California, on November 22 alongside Judith Curr, the publisher who brought the first book to readers. Terms aren’t public. The earlier move to a HarperCollins imprint in 2020 for The Greatest Secret shows she was still commanding deals more than a decade after the first hit.

Three things would move our number: a disclosed royalty rate, a real sales count for the five later titles, and a sale of the rights to The Secret, which would turn a slowing backlist into one large check.

Rhonda Byrne net worth FAQ

We estimate about $84 million before tax from the book and film combined: $68 million in royalties on 34 million copies and $16 million from the DVD. Neither is a disclosed figure.

How many copies has The Secret sold?

A 2026 report says more than 34 million in more than 50 languages. It reportedly spent more than 200 weeks on the New York Times bestseller list.

Partly. She mortgaged her home, Bob Rainone invested, and the Nine Network covered less than 25 percent of a budget of about $3 million.

How old is Rhonda Byrne?

Sources disagree: one gives a birth year of 1951 and another 1955. That makes her either about 75 or about 71.

What is Rhonda Byrne’s newest book?

Thought Rules, launching in November 2026. It is described as 12 rules of thought, and it arrives alongside a 20th anniversary edition of The Secret.

We multiply copies and DVD sales by assumed margins, take off 40 percent tax and $1 million a year in living costs, then add modest returns. It is a rough estimate.
