How much is Satya Nadella worth in 2026?
We estimate Satya Nadella’s net worth at about $1 billion. It is an estimate because he does not publish a personal balance sheet and nearly all of it is Microsoft stock, which moves daily.
The documented part is his pay. For the fiscal year ended June 30, 2025, Microsoft’s proxy statement showed total compensation of $96,496,790: a $2.5 million salary, about $84.2 million in stock awards, $9.56 million in incentive pay and about $196,000 in other items. His pay was $79.1 million the year before, and $48.5 million in 2023. Cumulative CEO-era pay is in the hundreds of millions.
The holdings are less clear. Different filing aggregators put his directly owned shares between about 487,000 and 900,000, and we cannot reconcile them. At the closing price near $525 in late October 2026, 900,000 shares are worth about $470 million. He also sold stock under a pre-arranged plan in early September 2025: about 86,500 shares for roughly $43.4 million and about 149,200 shares for roughly $75.3 million, after which he also had shares withheld to cover taxes.
Public estimates run from about $257 million (a floor built only from disclosed shares) to about $1.56 billion. We choose $1 billion, in the upper-middle of the range, because years of sold shares, after-tax cash and outside investments add to the disclosed shares.

What Satya Nadella teaches (and what to take from it)
Nadella’s record at Microsoft offers practical lessons that apply well beyond a large company. Four ideas, in our own words, each with a step for this week.
Stay curious and treat mistakes as data
A long run at the top depends on learning faster than the market changes, and that starts with how you treat errors. This week, pick one thing you are bad at and ask someone better for a single piece of feedback.
Pick the platform bets early
He steered the company toward cloud computing and then AI. The stock rose nearly tenfold in his first decade, according to one count. Name the one skill in your field likely to matter in five years and give it thirty minutes a day this week.
Buy capability when it is cheaper than building
Under him Microsoft bought Mojang for $2.5 billion, LinkedIn for $26.2 billion and GitHub for $7.5 billion. The principle for individuals is partnering: if a missing skill would take two years to learn, find the person who has it and make an offer.
Let pay follow performance
About 87 percent of his package is stock awards tied to results, which aligns his reward with the owners’. If you negotiate a job, ask what part of the compensation depends on outcomes you control, and ask for a larger share of it.
