How Sonja Morgan built it
- Paid the debts off. She sold a $5.7 million French house and gave up a Telluride home, and said the troubles ended in 2015.
- Rented out the big house. She moved out while renting the townhouse for $32,000 a month, years before the 2024 auction.
- Sold in small tickets. She sold $99 personal videos on Cameo in 2023 alongside her TV work.

We put her at about $2 million, inside a range of $1 million to $4 million. That is well under the larger number usually quoted, and the reason is the townhouse. Older public estimates appear to date from when she still owned it, and to read its value as hers. It has since sold at auction for roughly half the original ask, and a house sale only adds what remains after loans and costs. We can’t see those loans, so we assume them.
How we got to $2 million
| Source | Our estimate | What it rests on |
|---|---|---|
| Bravo pay, 11 seasons | $3.9 million | Part assumption. Nicki Swift repeated a figure of $465,000 a season, which we could not confirm elsewhere. We use an average of $350,000 because early seasons rarely pay what later ones do. |
| Townhouse proceeds | $1.5 million | Documented sale at $4.45 million. We assume loans and costs took about $3 million. No payoff figure is public. |
| Ventures, appearances and E! | $1.5 million | Assumption: about $135,000 a year over 11 years from fashion, sangria, Cameo, tours and The Golden Life. |
| Taxes | minus $2.2 million | Assumption: 40 percent of the $5.4 million of Bravo and venture income. The house row is left out of this sum. |
| Living costs | minus $2.75 million | Assumption: $250,000 a year for the 11 years since the June 2015 payment, in New York. |
| Total | $1.95 million | We round to $2 million. |
The film that cost more than the show paid
Nicki Swift reported that a planned John Travolta picture, Fast Flash to Bang Time, was to come from her company, Sonja Productions. It never got made. Her Wikipedia biography records a $6.95 million payment to Hannibal Pictures in June 2015 over the project.
Here is the sum that explains her finances. At the reported $465,000 a season, $6.95 million equals 14.9 seasons of Bravo pay, by our calculation. She did 11. Court papers from her Chapter 11 case listed $19.8 million of debt against $13.5 million of assets, a gap of $6.3 million, so that one payment was larger than the entire shortfall.
Clearing it took real property. A house in Ramatuelle, France, sold for $5.7 million, and the deed to a $5.8 million home in Telluride went to a mortgage servicer along with $600,000. That is $12.1 million in assets gone, and she said the money troubles ended in 2015.
A house that nearly out-earned the job
The Upper East Side townhouse could earn without her. A 2024 auction report says she revealed on RHONY, around 2018, that she rented it out for $32,000 a month, moving out while it was let. For any full year that is $384,000, or 83 percent of her reported Bravo salary by our math, before the mortgage. How long it stayed let isn’t public.
Bravo reported she confirmed a $4.45 million price at the May 2024 auction, about half of her original ask. She had first listed the house in 2013, and she moved out for good in July 2024. We count only what we think survived the loans, which is the least certain row on this page.
Small tickets, and a new show
Her recent income has come in small pieces. In 2023 Women’s Health, via AOL, listed $99 personal videos on Cameo and said her takings were unclear. She launched the Sonja by Sonja Morgan fashion line in 2015 and an improv tour in 2021.
The freshest dated event is The Golden Life, which premiered on E! on October 20, 2026, with Hamptons episodes due in 2027. Her fee has not been reported. A season of pay at her old Bravo rate would add roughly a quarter of our total before tax, by our math ($465,000 against $2 million is 23 percent), so a renewal or a licensing deal for her brands would move this number more than usual.
