How much is Sourav Ganguly worth in 2026?

Our figure for him is about $34 million, or roughly ?323 crore at ?95 to the dollar (the rate was 94.93 on 3 November 2026). This one is a rough estimate: little of the money is documented. No contract of his has been published, so nearly every row below is built on an assumption, and we say which. Public estimates run more than twice as high.

How Sourav Ganguly built it

  • Priced his name brand by brand. Reports put his fee at about ₹1 crore a year per brand, with Puma at ₹1.35 crore.
  • Stayed on television after retiring. Zee Bangla signed him for the quiz show Dadagiri in 2009, and TV work continued after cricket.
  • Backed startups early. He reportedly put $464,000 into Flickstree and also backed Classplus.

How we got to $34 million

Source Our estimate What it rests on
Cricket pay, after tax $3.4 million WION reported about ?16.79 crore from five IPL seasons. We add ?30 crore for international match fees and board contracts from 1992 to 2008, which is our assumption. Total ?46.79 crore, less 30 percent tax (assumed) leaves ?32.75 crore.
Endorsements, after tax $18.2 million Sports Khabri reported about ?1 crore per brand per year and listed 13 brands in January 2021. We assume 13 brands at ?1 crore for 2013 to 2026, or ?182 crore, plus ?5 crore a year for 2000 to 2012, or ?65 crore. Total ?247 crore, less 30 percent: ?172.9 crore.
TV, coaching and admin roles, after tax $10.3 million Our assumption: ?10 crore a year for the 14 years since 2013, covering commentary, coaching and Dadagiri, the Bengali quiz show Zee Bangla signed him for in 2009. No fee is public. ?140 crore less 30 percent: ?98 crore.
Living costs Minus $10.5 million Our assumption of ?5 crore a year for 20 years, or ?100 crore.
Growth on savings $10.4 million After tax and spending, the rows above leave ?203.65 crore saved. We assume half of it, ?101.8 crore, was invested for about 10 years at 7 percent a year, which adds 96.7 percent: ?98.5 crore. Angel stakes such as the $464,000 reported in Flickstree and his angel money in Classplus sit inside this row.
Share of the family home $2.1 million CricTracker values the ancestral Behala mansion at about ?40 crore. It has been in the family for decades, so we credit him half: ?20 crore. Another report values the Kolkata home at only ?7 crore.
Total $33.9 million Sum of the rows above, about ?322 crore. We round to $34 million.

The range comes from two swings. Take away all growth on savings and he has about $24 million. Double the assumed endorsement fees, with the same tax and investing, and he has about $61 million.

The endorsement numbers that can’t both be right

A July 2026 SportsMint profile credits Ganguly with more than 40 active brands at about ?3 crore per agreement. It also puts his annual income at about ?28 crore. By our calculation, 40 times ?3 crore is ?120 crore a year, more than four times the income stated in the same article (120 divided by 28 is 4.3). At least one of those numbers is wrong, and every estimate built on them inherits the problem.

We trust the older, lower rate. It fits the single specific deal we could find: Puma India, which signed him in August 2019, reportedly pays ?1.35 crore a year. The same outlet’s July 2025 piece described over 40 brand associations across his whole career, not all active at once, which would explain a long list without a long income. The list itself is real enough, running from Coca-Cola India and Bandhan Bank to Mankind Pharma and Senco Gold.

Why public estimates are more than double ours

Public estimates sit between ?700 crore and ?750 crore. Take the ?28 crore income above at face value and ?750 crore needs 26.8 years of that income with no tax and no spending, which is our sum, not a career. Those figures also tend to be repeated without a working.

The rupee adds a second gap. A ?700 crore figure circulating in July 2025 was then quoted as about $85 million, which implies about ?82 to the dollar. At ?95 the same rupees come to $73.7 million. That is $11.3 million gone in dollar terms without Ganguly spending a paisa.

A new coaching job with no public price

Khaleej Times reported on 6 October 2026 that Delhi Capitals named Ganguly head coach ahead of the 2027 IPL, replacing Hemang Badani after a sixth-place finish. He had already worked with the franchise as advisor from 2019 and later director of cricket, and coached Pretoria Capitals in the SA20 last year. The pay was not stated, and his term as president of the Cricket Association of Bengal, which he took up again on 22 September 2025, adds no figure either.

What would move our number most: a published coaching contract, or a sale of any of his startup stakes. A steel factory reported as planned in West Bengal could matter too, but no sum has been attached to it, so it isn’t in the ledger. Neither is the London flat, because we found no price for it.
