Sultan of Brunei is the 29th and current Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei and his current net worth is $25 billion.

Born in Brunei town, now called Bandar Seri Begawan, as the Crown Prince, Hassanal Bolkiah, he attended Victoria Institution in Kuala Lumpur.

After, he went to the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in the United Kingdom and graduated in 1967.

Upon his father’s abdication, he became the Sultan of Brunei Darussalam, right after finishing the academy.

His coloration, held on 1st August 1968, made him the Yang di-Pertuan (Head of State) of Brunei.

He received the Knight title from Queen Elizabeth II, just like his father.

The Sultan is now the head of state with full executive authority, including emergency powers, since 1962 after the Brunei’s 1959 constitution.

Bolkiah named himself Inspector General of Police of the Royal Brunei Police Force.

The Sultan lives in the Istana Nurul Iman, which features 1,788 rooms, 257 bathrooms, and spans on 2,152,782 square feet.

Also housing several offices of government, including that of the Office of the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan, the place also has the offices within the Prime Minister’s Department.

Some parts of the Ministry of Defense as well as Ministry of Finance are also located there.

The Crown Prince, who is the Senior Minister, also works from offices located at the Istana.

Under his reign technical and vocational institution became available, such as the Brunei Technological University, Sultan Saiful Rijal Technical College.

The Sultan married his first cousin and first wife, Pengiran Anak Saleha or Princess Saleha, later became the Raja Isteri or Queen.

Aisha Mariam, a former flight attendant for the national carrier, became his second wife. He divorced her in 2003, stripping her of all her royal titles.

In August 2005, former Malaysian TV3 presenter, Azrinaz Mazhar Hakim took her place. The couple divorced in 2010, and as with Aisha Mariam, the Sultan stripped her of all titles.
