9White Nights and Scarlet Sails Festival
Both taking place in St. Petersburg, Russia, both well-known, both awesome! We are talking about the White Nights Festival and Scarlet Sails. This cool tradition began after World War II, when students gathered to celebrate the end of the school year. As you can see, they still do it.
The first one consists of a series of opera, ballet, music events and performances of Russian dancers, singers, actors, as well as international guest stars.
The White Nights Festival represents a celebration of life and arts and gathers about 1 million people.
The Scarlet Sails is the most famous public event during the White Nights Festival, well known for its spectacular fireworks and water shows.
It is one of the most enjoyable events organized by the Saint Petersburg City Administration and it’s truly a must on the bucket list. The celebration is held during the arctic season, when you can still see the sun at midnight. It begins in May, at Mariinsky Theatre and ends in July.
