5.Isla Bastimentos National Marine Park, Panama
Home to sea turtles and other reptiles, Isla Bastimentos National Marine Park is situated in the Bocas Del Toro District and the archipelago of Bocas Del Toro Province in Panama.
Panama’s first marine park has a great variety of plants and animal species and they also protect several types of environments.
The marine park was created in 1988 and it stretches over 32.682 acres from Playa Larga to the Cayos Zapatillas and over to Coral Cay and also extends from southwest side of Isla Bastimentos and into the Caribbean Sea.
Enough details it’s time to talk about the fun stuff. On the marine park we encounter Cayos Zapatillas to little island who resemble a pair of shoes.
On them we can find coral reefs, reptiles, birds, and mammals but also this is the place where the endangered sea turtles nest.
Another place for them to nest is Playa Larga where from April through September the turtles lay their eggs.
This is a unique national park where you feel like on vacation because the amazing beaches, the islands and reefs, the protected forests and mangroves give you the feeling that you are in paradise.
But animals like the reptiles the monkey and the sloths will remind you that you are in the middle of the nature and everything around you is mother’s earth children.
