We continue our top 10 list with Punalu’u Beach.
Also called Black Sand Beach, Punalu’u is located on the Big Island of Hawaii.
If the previous beach has white sand, Punalu’u Beach features black sand made of basalt created by lava flowing into the ocean.
This beach is populated by living creatures, such as Green turtles and Hawksbill sea turtles.
Punalu’u Beach is not a very good location for the swimmers.
The swimming area here is very rocky and the beach has very cold water that looks like gasoline, as you can see in the second image.
