How much is Anand Mahindra worth in 2026?

We put Anand Mahindra at about $710 million. We convert at our working rate of about 95 rupees to the dollar for early November 2026, which we did not check against a live quote, and use a Mahindra & Mahindra share price of ?2,853, a late-October 2026 level (it was ?2,869 on 2 November). The company’s own stock exchange filings show what the family owns in total, but not how it splits between cousins, so that part is our assumption.

Public estimates probably differ on one question: whether the family’s group-wide stake is his. Some may give him all of it, others only his personal 0.12 percent. We use a stated share and a discount.

How Anand Mahindra built it

  • Held shares for decades. His direct holding is 1,430,008 shares, 0.12 percent of the company, and the family group holds 18.44 percent.
  • Took modest pay. His FY2025 pay was 5.62 crore rupees, about 48.87 times the median employee.
  • Chaired two listed companies. He is chairman of Mahindra & Mahindra and Tech Mahindra, which paid him 1.37 crore rupees for FY2025.

How we got to $710 million

Source Our estimate What it rests on
Shares he holds directly $43 million The annual report lists 1,430,008 shares (0.12 percent), and the December 2025 shareholding pattern shows the same count. At ?2,853 that is ?408 crore, or $43 million.
Family holding company, our share $794 million Prudential Management & Services, a promoter-group company, holds 132,221,940 shares (10.81 percent), worth ?37,723 crore or $3.97 billion at ?2,853. We assume Anand has a 20 percent economic interest in it. That 20 percent is a guess: no filing gives the split. The shareholding table shows Anand (0.12 percent) and his relatives Uma Malhotra and Leena Labroo (0.13 percent each) with similar personal stakes, which hints at branches of similar size, so we use less than a third because other relatives and trusts are also listed.
Discount for family ownership and tax on a sale Minus $126 million We take 15 percent off the two share rows ($837 million, our assumption) for a holding that cannot be sold in one piece and would attract capital gains tax.

The rows add to about $711 million. We add nothing for dividends, Tech Mahindra or other holdings, because we found no figures for them, so the estimate leans cautious there. Only the first row comes from a filing about him personally, so the ledger is mostly assumption, which is why the range is so wide. The M&M Benefit Trust, which holds another 6.90 percent and lists Anand as a trustee, is not counted because it is a trust, not his own money.

The share price fell, and so did the fortune

The stock has traded between about ?2,744 and ?3,840 over the last year and was near ?2,853 in late October 2026, per Upstox. Our calculation: ?3,840 minus ?2,853 is ?987 a share, so 1,430,008 shares lost about ?141 crore ($14.8 million) from the high. On the family holding company the same fall is 132,221,940 times ?987, about ?13,050 crore ($1.37 billion), and our 20 percent share of that is $275 million.

A 1 percent move in the price shifts his direct holding by ?4.08 crore. His annual pay was ?5.62 crore, so one percent of the stock is about 73 percent of a year’s salary.

Pay and the chairman’s job

The company’s FY2025 annual report put his pay at ?5.62 crore, up 9.13 percent, or 48.87 times the median employee; we could not re-open that page in our last check, and a listing of the FY2026 report shows ?6.05 crore for the following year. He is also chairman of Tech Mahindra, which paid him ?1.37 crore for FY2025.

What would move the figure

A filing that breaks out the family’s holdings by person would replace our 20 percent guess and could move the headline by several hundred million dollars either way. After that, only the M&M share price matters. Each 10 percent change in the stock moves our estimate by about $71 million, with the 15 percent discount applied.
