How much is Arianna Huffington worth in 2026?

We estimate Arianna Huffington’s net worth at about $90 million. The range is wide, because the $315 million that AOL paid for The Huffington Post in February 2011 went to several owners (NBC News listed Huffington, Kenneth Lerer and other investors) and her portion was never published. Public estimates differ on exactly that point, and some mix in the valuation of the company she runs now. Everything below that is not a sale price or a funding round is our assumption.

How Arianna Huffington built it

  • Sold at the peak. AOL paid $315 million for The Huffington Post in February 2011.
  • Started over in 2016. She stepped down from HuffPost and launched Thrive Global, which has raised about $117 million.
  • Wrote the pitch. Her books Thrive and The Sleep Revolution became bestsellers.

How we got to $90 million

Source Our estimate What it rests on
Her share of the HuffPost sale, after tax $20 million AOL paid $315 million in February 2011, $300 million of it in cash. We assume she held 10%, about $31.5 million, and kept about two-thirds after tax.
Thrive Global stake, after discount $60 million Built In NYC reported the July 2021 round of $80 million at a $700 million valuation, from anonymous sources; Thrive did not confirm it. No priced round has followed, so we assume $500 million. We assume she owns 15%, $75 million, and take 20% off for a private, illiquid holding.
Books, speaking and board roles $10 million An assumed career total. She has written 15 books, including two international bestsellers, and has sat on boards including Uber and Onex.
Total About $90 million $20 + $60 + $10 million.

All three rows depend on shares we cannot see, so we keep the confidence low.

$315 million for a site, and who got it

Wikipedia’s entry on Huffington records that AOL bought the site in February 2011 for $315 million and that she became president and editor-in-chief of the combined media group. Here is our calculation: at an assumed 10% she received $31.5 million before tax and about $21 million after, which we round to $20 million.

What Thrive has raised, and what it may be worth

The Thrive Global entry lists a $7 million round before launch, $30 million in November 2017 at a $120 million valuation, and an $80 million Series C in July 2021. That is $117 million in all, about 37 percent of what AOL paid for HuffPost. Here is our calculation: at our $500 million value each percentage point she holds is worth $5 million, so the Thrive row is $60 million against $20 million from the sale she is better known for. Two-thirds of our $90 million ($60 million of it) therefore rests on the second company. If the 2021 figure of $700 million is right and she holds 15%, the row would be about $84 million after discount; at $120 million, the 2017 valuation, about $14 million.

The books

She has written 15 books. Thrive and The Sleep Revolution were international bestsellers, and Goodnight Smartphone followed in 2017. We do not know the advances, so we keep the books in a combined row with speaking and board roles.

Why other estimates disagree

Some pages credit her with the whole sale price, some with none of it, and the Thrive valuation they use is either the 2017 round or the unconfirmed 2021 report. We found no 2025 or 2026 transaction that sets a new value for her stake; the latest documented funding is the July 2021 round.

What would move the figure

A sale of Thrive Global, a disclosed funding round, or a filing that shows her stake.
