How much is Ben Francis Worth? Ben Francis Net Worth in 2026
Ben Francis’s net worth is estimated at $600 million as of November 2026. Nearly all of it is a majority stake in Gymshark, the Solihull sportswear brand he started in 2012 as a university student. Gymshark declared no dividend in its latest year, so the fortune is mostly on paper until someone buys shares.

How much is Ben Francis worth in 2026?
We put Ben Francis’s net worth at about $600 million. Gymshark is private, so this is a rough estimate, not a filing: the sales multiple below is our assumption. It rests on one fact more than any other: General Atlantic took 21 percent of the company in 2020 in a deal covered by The Industry Fashion as valuing Gymshark at more than £1 billion, with Francis keeping more than 70 percent. FashionUnited puts the price at £200 million.
Public estimates differ mostly because they carry that 2020 valuation forward. A £1 billion price on a company that has since grown sales but earned very little profit overstates it. We value the business off today’s sales instead, and Francis’s slice off that.
How Ben Francis built it
- Kept profit in the business. Gymshark declared no dividend for the year to July 2025 and reinvested in stores.
- Sold a minority, kept control. General Atlantic bought 21 percent in 2020 and Francis still held more than 70 percent.
- Moved from screens to shops. The brand opened stores in Dubai, Amsterdam, Manchester and New York in 2025.

Francis’s wealth is one asset, so the ledger works down from the company to his share.
| Source | Our estimate | What it rests on |
|---|---|---|
| Gymshark, whole company | $870 million | Annual revenue of £646 million (about $870 million at an assumed $1.35 to the pound) to July 2025, at one times sales. The one-times multiple is our assumption for a brand with thin profit; we have no sale price to check it against. |
| General Atlantic’s holding | Minus $183 million | The investor bought 21 percent in 2020. 21 percent of $870 million is $183 million. |
| Everyone else | Minus $78 million | Reports say Francis holds more than 70 percent after the 2020 deal. We use 70 percent, the floor, which leaves 9 percent for staff, early backers and other holders. If he holds up to 79 percent, his stake would be about $690 million. |
| Total: Francis’s stake | $609 million | What is left, 70 percent of the company. We round to $600 million. |
No row for cash, because the accounts for the year to July 2025 declared no dividend and profit was reinvested. Francis’s salary and any past payouts are not published, so we add nothing for them.
The investor who is down on paper
Here is our calculation. General Atlantic is reported to have paid £200 million for 21 percent, which implies a company worth about £950 million, in line with the “more than £1 billion” reported at the time. At today’s sales and one times revenue, the company is worth about £646 million, and 21 percent of that is roughly £136 million. That puts the investor about £64 million, or 32 percent, below what it paid. Francis is exposed to the same markdown on his own 70 percent or more.
It also explains the news. In July 2026 FashionUnited reported that Francis was reportedly considering buying back the stake from General Atlantic. If the price lands near the 2020 valuation, he pays far more than our model says the shares are worth. If it lands lower, his stake rises as a share of the company. Either way the number to watch is the price per share.
A company that sells £646 million and keeps £7 million
FashionUnited reported Gymshark revenue of £646 million for the year to 31 July 2025, up from £603 million, its thirteenth straight year of growth. Pre-tax profit fell to £7 million from £11.9 million. By our math that is about 1.1 pence of profit on every pound sold. The company says the drop is deliberate: it opened stores in Dubai, Amsterdam, Manchester, Long Island and a Manhattan flagship on Bond Street, and held cash of more than £37 million at year end.
EBITDA, the figure before depreciation, interest and tax, was £53.3 million, about 8 percent of sales. That gap between EBITDA and profit is why a buyer would argue about the price.
Garage, pizza and a Solihull warehouse
Francis was a student at Aston University and delivered pizza for £5 an hour when he and school friend Lewis Morgan started Gymshark in 2012. He is a British MBE and was born in 1992. Reporting on his early life varies on where exactly he grew up, so we keep it to the West Midlands.
What would move the figure
The buyback price is the big one. A sale of shares at a stated valuation would replace our one-times-sales assumption with a real number. A flotation would do the same. A better profit year would lift the multiple, because the thin margin is the main reason we stay near one times sales.
