How much is Ben Silbermann worth in 2026?
We estimate Ben Silbermann is worth about $1.0 billion, within a range of $800 million to $1.4 billion. The holding and the sale prices come from the company’s proxy and Form 4 filings. What we cannot see is the tax he paid, what he spent or gave away, and what the cash has earned, so those are assumptions.
Public estimates differ mainly on the price used and on whether sales count. A figure that values the stake alone misses more than half a billion dollars of stock sold. A figure struck when Pinterest traded far above $19 misses the fall.
How Ben Silbermann built it

- Handed over the CEO job. His step down was announced in June 2022 and Bill Ready took over as CEO.
- Kept most of his shares. The family trust still held 33,955,638 Class B shares after October 21, 2026.

Pinterest closed at $19.36 on October 30, 2026, giving the company a market value of about $11.1 billion, according to StockTitan.
| Source | Our estimate | What it rests on |
|---|---|---|
| Class B shares in the family trust | $657 million | A Form 4 shows 33,955,638 Class B shares after October 21, 2026, held by the Benjamin and Divya Silbermann Family Trust. He and his wife are the trustees, so we count this as the couple’s holding. At $19.36 that is $657 million. |
| Cash from share sales | $370 million | By our count, Form 4s show about 15.9 million shares sold from November 2019 to October 2026 for about $587 million. We assume 37 percent for federal and state tax, which leaves $370 million. We add no returns and take off no spending or giving, on the assumption they roughly cancel. |
| Total | About $1.0 billion | $657 million plus $370 million is $1.03 billion, which we round to $1.0 billion. |
We leave out 8,762,530 Class B shares, worth about $170 million, held by an LLC owned by a trust for family members. The proxy says he has no voting or sale power over them. We add nothing for property or private holdings, and his director pay of $349,993 for 2025 is too small to matter. The share count also fell by about 1.2 million between the proxy’s March count of 36,911,603 and the start of the June sales, without a sale in the filings we read, and we did not count those shares as cash.
Selling at $51, holding at $19
Our calculation: in 2020 and 2021 he sold about 6.8 million shares for about $345 million, an average near $51 a share. At $19.36 the same shares would fetch about $131 million, so the timing of those two years was worth about $214 million before tax. Later sales bring the total to $587 million, at much lower prices.
A twice-weekly sale plan
Each sale is 46,875 shares under a Rule 10b5-1 trading plan, paired with a conversion of Class B into Class A. By our count there were 38 of them from June 2 to October 21, 2026, about 1.78 million shares, with a gap from late July to August 11. They brought in about $38 million at an average near $21. At 93,750 shares a week, or about 4.9 million a year, the trust would take about seven years to sell 33.96 million shares, about 14 percent a year.
Back at the listing price
Wikipedia’s Pinterest page gives the listing as $19 a share on April 18, 2019, with a first-day close of $24.40. Its page on him says that listing valued the company at about $12 billion, and that on June 28, 2022 it was announced he would step down as chief executive, with Bill Ready succeeding him. The company’s market value is now about $11.1 billion. On October 29, 2026 it reported third-quarter revenue growth of 12 percent and 661 million users, with profit down from a year earlier. For 2025 it reported revenue of $4.2 billion and net income of $416.9 million.
What would move the figure
Each $1 on the share price moves our estimate by about $34 million. A change to the sale plan or a filing showing large gifts would change the second row, and any sale shifts money from the first row to the second at a tax cost.
