Brian Scudamore’s net worth is estimated at $200 million as of November 2026. He started his junk hauling business with a $700 pickup truck and now runs its parent, O2E Brands, from Vancouver. Nearly all of the figure is the value of the franchisor he appears to still control, and this one is a rough estimate: little of the money is documented.

How much is Brian Scudamore worth in 2026?

The surprise in this fortune is how little of the junk money reaches the man whose name is on the story. Trucks in the US, Canada and Australia rang up $537.5 million in 2024, according to franchise disclosure figures compiled by Franchise Investor Data. We read that as US dollars. The royalty on those sales is 8 percent. So the franchisor collects about $43 million of it, and that stream, not the half-billion, is what we value.

We put him at about $200 million, with a realistic range of $120 million to $400 million. The sales and royalty rate are published. His stake, the margin and the sale multiple are not, and they are our assumptions. Public estimates run lower and higher because few of them separate what franchisees sell from what the franchisor keeps.

How Brian Scudamore built it

  • Spent $700 on a used truck. He put $700 of about $1,000 in savings into a used Ford F-100 in 1989.
  • Fired the whole team. In 1994 he let all 11 employees go and rebuilt the company from there.
  • Franchised instead of owning every truck. Outlets pay an 8 percent royalty, about $43 million on 2024 sales.

How we got to $200 million

Source Our estimate What it rests on
O2E Brands stake $184 million Royalties of about $48 million ($43 million from the junk brand plus an assumed $5 million from the two sister brands, whose sales we could not find). A 40 percent margin gives $19.2 million in profit. At 12 times profit the business is worth about $230 million. All three assumptions are ours. We credit him with 80 percent: an older company history says he owned the business, but no current figure exists.
Past payouts, homes and investments $16 million Assumption: $2 million a year kept after tax for the eight years since 2018, when O2E revenue passed $300 million. It covers his Vancouver home, a second home in Whistler (both per CNBC) and his investments. No prices are public.
Total $200 million $184 million plus $16 million

Eight cents on the dollar

Take $537.5 million in 2024 system sales and multiply by the 8 percent royalty: $43 million. There is a second 8 percent charge for sales, marketing and technology, which we assume gets spent on exactly that and leaves no profit behind. By our calculation, a reader who treats the sales figure as the value of the company overstates it by about 2.3 times ($537.5 million against our $230 million).

O2E’s own about page still states a goal of 500 franchise partners and $500 million in system-wide sales by the end of 2025. If the disclosure figures are right, the junk brand alone had passed the sales half of that in 2024. The page does not say whether the partner goal was met. The company’s disclosure document dated May 21, 2026 lists 138 locations, well short of 500, which is why we do not lean on the partner count.

One thing could make us too low. Franchise Investor Data also says a franchisor affiliate runs 42 US outlets doing about $209.5 million, roughly 44 percent of US sales. Nothing we opened says who owns that affiliate or what it earns, so it gets no row. If it sits inside his group and earns an assumed 10 percent margin at our 12 times multiple, our calculation adds about $200 million to his share ($209.5 million times 10 percent times 12 times 80 percent). That is why our range tops out at $400 million.

The first year paid $1,700

He started in 1989 at 19 with about $1,000 in savings, CNBC reported, spent $700 of it on an old Ford F-100 and made about $1,700 that first year. He dropped out of the University of British Columbia to haul full time, and a company history counts 1993 as his first full year. By 1994 he had five trucks, 11 employees and about $500,000 in revenue, then fired all 11 and rebuilt the company. It worked: revenue reached $1 million later in the decade and systemwide sales topped $12 million in 2003, the year the company appeared on Oprah.

The near miss of 2008

The fortune almost did not exist. The Hustle’s account has revenue at $100 million in 2006, then down to $85 million in 2008, with the company on the verge of bankruptcy and severance for departing executives running to hundreds of thousands of dollars. He hired Erik Church as chief operating officer in 2011, and O2E reached $250 million in revenue by 2015 with more than 250 franchise partners. Had he sold in 2008, this page would be about a much smaller number.

What would move the figure

A sale of O2E or an outside investment would replace our multiple with a real price, and it is the single largest swing in the ledger. The next franchise disclosure with 2025 sales would reset the royalty line: at 8 percent, every extra $100 million in junk sales adds $8 million in royalties and, on our margin and multiple, about $38 million in company value. His own investor seat on Dragons’ Den, announced in April 2024, adds visibility more than income as far as anyone has published.
