How much is Cathie Wood worth in 2026?

This one is a rough estimate: little of the money is documented. ARK is private and nobody publishes its profit. Wikipedia lists her as holding 50 percent of the firm, with Nikko Asset Management at 15 percent since 2017 and Resolute Investment as a minority shareholder. We found no filing that confirms those shares, so we treat 50 percent as a working assumption. The fee rate and the multiple we put on the firm are assumptions too.

The asset numbers depend on what you count. The same Wikipedia page says ARK manages about $30 billion. ARK’s holdings filing for June 30, 2026 shows $15.4 billion of stock (Quiver Quant), filed in August 2026, but a filing like that leaves out assets that are not US-listed equities, so it understates the total. We use $30 billion. A rise in assets or a sale of part of the firm are the events most likely to move the number.

How Cathie Wood built it

  • Founded her own firm. She left AllianceBernstein in 2014 and started ARK Invest, which now earns a fee on its assets.
  • Stayed with a single theme. ARK focuses on disruptive innovation, and ARKK became the largest active ETF in December 2020.
  • Worked in asset management first. She spent twelve years at AllianceBernstein before starting ARK.

How we got to $400 million

Source Our estimate What it rests on
Her share of ARK Invest about $340 million $30 billion of assets at an assumed 0.75 percent fee is $225 million of revenue. We value an asset manager at three times revenue, $675 million, and take her listed 50 percent, $337 million.
Earlier career pay about $20 million Twelve years as chief investment officer of global thematic strategies at AllianceBernstein before ARK, per Wikipedia. An after-tax allowance, not a published figure.
Profit taken from ARK since 2014 about $40 million Distributions after tax over the years assets were high. Assumed.

Total: $340 million + $20 million + $40 million = $400 million. Two of the three rows are allowances, which is why the range is wide.

Our calculation: every $10 billion of ARK assets brings in about $75 million a year at 0.75 percent, is worth about $225 million as a company at three times revenue, and makes about $112 million of value for a 50 percent owner. At our $30 billion that is $337 million. At the $15.4 billion in the June filing it would be $173 million, so the choice of asset figure moves her ARK row by almost half ($173 million divided by $337 million is 51 percent).

A fortune measured in basis points

Her wealth is in the management company, not in stocks she picks. A good year for her funds raises her income only when investors send more money, and a bad year costs her when they take it out. In December 2020 her flagship ARKK became the largest actively managed ETF, according to Wikipedia. Public estimates differ mostly because they assume different asset levels, fee rates and multiples.

What we could not confirm

We did not find ARK’s profit, a filing that shows her exact ownership, or any private sale of shares, so the 50 percent and three-times-revenue figures are assumptions. If she owned 40 percent and the firm were valued at two times revenue, her ARK row would be $180 million. At 50 percent and four times revenue it would be $450 million.
