How much is Rebecca Yarros worth in 2026?

We estimate Rebecca Yarros at about $30 million, within a range of $18 million to $50 million. The sales are public and huge. Her royalty rate is not, and every dollar of assumed royalty per copy moves the total by about $16.5 million. That is the real reason public estimates disagree: most multiply the sales by whatever royalty seems right, then skip the agent and the tax bill.

How Rebecca Yarros built it

  • Drew a huge launch week. Onyx Storm sold about 1.3 million copies in its first week at outlets reporting to BookScan.
  • Wrote across several genres. Her catalog of more than 20 listed titles runs from romance to the Empyrean fantasy series.
  • Kept producer credits on adaptations. She is an executive producer on the Apple development of her novel Peculiar Stars.

How we got to $30 million

Source Our estimate What it rests on
Empyrean royalties $52.5 million Assumption: 30 million copies worldwide. The publisher’s last US count we could open was more than 12 million across print, ebook and audio, soon after Onyx Storm launched. A licensing announcement quoted in search results says above 30 million, but we could not open it, so treat that count as unconfirmed. We also assume an average of $1.75 a copy across hardcover, ebook, audio and foreign editions, because her contract is private. 30 million times $1.75.
Other novels $4 million Wikipedia lists more than 20 titles in her catalog, including an Amazon Montlake two-book deal with no disclosed price. A flat assumption.
Screen and graphic novel rights $5 million Five deals on her own news page: Prime Video, Lionsgate, Netflix, Apple and a graphic novel adaptation. Amounts are undisclosed. We assume $1 million each.
Tax and agent fees Minus $27.7 million An assumed 45 percent of the $61.5 million above: 15 percent agent plus income tax.
Spending Minus $4 million An assumed $1 million a year from 2023 to 2026.
Total About $30 million $52.5 + $4 + $5 – $27.7 – $4 million = $29.8 million, which we round to $30 million.

The $41.7 million week

Publishers Weekly reported nearly 1.1 million deluxe copies of Onyx Storm at $32.99 and almost 179,000 standard copies at $29.99 in its first week at outlets that report to Circana BookScan. Our calculation: 1.1 million times $32.99 is $36.3 million, 179,000 times $29.99 is $5.4 million, and together that is about $41.7 million at list price. At our assumed $1.75 a copy, her cut on those 1.3 million books is about $2.3 million, or 5.5 percent of the list price.

The 1.3 million is the small version of the number. The widely reported first-week figure is 2.7 million copies, because BookScan does not catch everything. The publisher’s own US total for the first three books was more than 12 million copies across print, ebook and audio, up from nearly 6.5 million for the series before Onyx Storm came out. A first print run of 2 million also tells you how little doubt there was about the launch.

Four screen deals and a graphic novel, no published prices

Prime Video’s leads were reported on October 15, 2026: Esther McGregor as Violet and Emilio Sakraya as Xaden, with Lisa Joy directing the first episode. The series is in preproduction and has no release date. A July 2026 item on her news page says Apple will develop her novel Peculiar Stars, with Yarros as an executive producer through Full Measures Productions. Lionsgate has optioned The Things We Leave Unfinished, and Netflix is developing In the Likely Event.

Those deals sit at $5 million in our ledger for now. Pay from producing and any bonus when Fourth Wing reaches screens would move the figure, and so would new Empyrean books: Hachette UK listed Threshing Day for sale on September 29, 2026, and Yarros has indicated the main series will run to five. Book sales usually jump again with an adaptation, but that part is a guess until the show has a date.
