6Ye Olde Man & Scythe, England – 1251
Located in Bolton, England, this bar was first recorded by name in 1251. It’s the oldest building in Bolton, and one of the 10 oldest buildings in Britain.
This bar has a lot of dark history, like the murder of James Stanley, the 7th Earl of Derby, who was responsible for the Bolton Massacre which took place on May 28, 1644. And with it, 1600 deaths more.
Although Ye Olde Man & Scythe had been renovated several times throughout the years, its vaulted cellar is the only remaining portion of the original structure.
