Water Skiing
When we are talking about water sports, water skiing is that extreme sport that gave birth to other genres.
To thank we have Ralph Smauelson who was asking himself why couldn’t we ski on water if we can on snow.
By testing with his brother in 1922 barrel staves, regular snow skis and later to perfect his invention by making them from lumber with leather strips strap to his feet, while he was pulled by a window sash.
The invention was never patented, but the fact that he started to perfect his skills and was giving performances, making him 44 years later the man who was first recorded to water ski.
