Microsoft’s New Surface Laptop Running on Windows 10 S and Looks Absolutely Amazing

Revealed at an event the past Tuesday by Microsoft, this laptop comes with an updated version of Windows 10. The latest version is for students and educators.
Microsoft takes on Apple and Google in the education market with this new release.
The laptop is available in four colors, including cobalt blue and burgundy, starting June 15 and its price tag starts at $999.
Distinct from the Surface Book, the 13.5-inch laptop gets 14.5 hours of battery life. It weighs just 2.76 pounds and comes with a fabric keyboard.
Unlike other laptops released by Microsoft, this one has a clear target audience: students who would choose Apple’s Mac.
“A lot of students use MacBook Airs and MacBook Pros,” Panay said on stage.
He mentioned a lot that Microsoft’s new tech is thinner than Apple’s AAPL, Tech30 devices, with a longer battery life.
What kind of operating system the new laptop has?
The new laptop runs on the new Windows 10 S, which is a streamlined form of the operating system specially made from classrooms.
It comes with a faster login experience for students and only runs applications downloaded from Windows Store.
The company also mentioned that Samsung, Toshiba, HP and other manufacturers will sell Windows 10 S devices starting this summer at $189.
With that price tag Microsoft will be able to compete with bigger fish like Google’s Chromebooks.
Satya Nadella, Microsoft’s CEO, framed the day’s product announcements as being part of the company’s mission to “democratize the educational opportunity for every student.”
What is in it for Microsoft?
For the company is also about having a spot on the lucrative education market, which is great for them having the opportunity to get a new generation of costumers accustomed to its devices.
“The performance on this device is absolutely amazing,” says Panay. Microsoft is using the latest Intel Core i5 and i7 processors, and claims the battery life will last for 14.5 hours as a result.
Microsoft says the Surface Laptop is faster than the i7 MacBook Pro. It has “more battery life than any MacBook Air on the market today.”
