Michael Jackson died on June 25, 2009, at his home on North Carolwood Drive, in the Holmby Hills neighborhood of Los Angeles. He died of acute propofol and benzodiazepine intoxication, after suffering a cardiac arrest.

His death was a shock for all his fans. On July 7, 2009, a public memorial service for Michael was held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, same place where the singer had rehearsed for the London concerts, just the night before his death.

Michael Jackson’s gold-plated solid bronze Promethean casket, worth $25.000, was furnished by the Batesville Casket Company, and it is similar to the one in which James Brown was buried.

Decorated with red roses and Bells of Ireland flower arrangement, the casket was escorted by his brothers.
His memorial had cost Los Angeles $1.4 million, for 1.400 police officers, traffic control, sanitation and trash pick-up.
The funeral was broadcast live all around the world, having over 2.5 billion viewers.

Among the participants are included Kobe Bryant, Lionel Richie, Stevie Wonder, Mariah Carey, Queen Latifah, Jennifer Hudson, P. Diddy, Akon, Magic Johnson, Shaheen Jafargholi (a child who sang one of Michael’s songs on ‘Britain’s Got Talent’) and many more.
