How much is Daniel Lubetzky worth in 2026?

We put Lubetzky at about $1.8 billion. The Mars deal is the anchor, but its terms were never published, so his stake and the tax are estimates. We subtract an assumed tax bill and count only the investment cheques we can document. Parts of this are a rough estimate: the $5 billion price came from newspaper reports, not a filing.

How Daniel Lubetzky built it

  • Started with tomatoes. In 1994 he built PeaceWorks around a sun-dried tomato product, years before Kind existed.
  • Held on through the Mars deal. He said in 2020 he would keep a stake in Kind after Mars agreed to buy it in a deal valued near $5 billion.
  • Reinvested through a firm. Camino Partners, started in 2018, backed Ellenos with $18 million and later Barry's and LiveWell.

How we got to $1.8 billion

Source Our estimate What it rests on
His half of Kind at the Mars price $2.5 billion The New York Times put the November 2020 deal at about $5 billion, as the Associated Press reported. When Mars bought a minority stake in 2017, CNBC reported that Lubetzky stayed majority shareholder, with no percentages given. We assume 50 percent of the company, the least a majority can be, and value all of it at the deal price, including the stake he kept in 2020 and sold in 2025 at a price nobody has published. His true share may be higher.
Tax and deal costs minus $0.75 billion Our assumption: 30 percent of $2.5 billion, a round blend of federal and state tax on a gain plus fees. His real bill is not public.
Camino Partners cheques we can count $0.02 billion His family office put $18 million into Ellenos in 2020 and $1 million into Yellow Leaf Hammocks in May 2020, per Wikipedia, which we count at cost. It also backed Barry’s, LiveWell and Well Labs+ in March 2025 for undisclosed sums, which we leave out.

Total: $2.5 billion ? $0.75 billion + $0.02 billion = $1.77 billion, which we round to $1.8 billion. The range is wide because his exact Kind percentage was never published.

Why $5 billion is the wrong number

Our calculation: the headline price is for the whole company, and Mars already owned a minority slice from 2017. Fifty percent of $5 billion is $2.5 billion, and after the 30 percent we assume for tax that is $1.75 billion, which is 35 percent of the headline number. Each extra 5 points of ownership we are unsure about moves the answer by about $0.18 billion after tax (5 percent of $5 billion is $0.25 billion, times 0.7).

Tomatoes first

In 1994 he found a sun-dried tomato product that became PeaceWorks, his first company. Kind followed in 2003 or 2004 (sources disagree).

The 2025 exit and the 2026 check

His Wikipedia entry says he sold his remaining Kind stake in 2025 and no longer has an operating role; the page cites Inc. magazine from March 2025. We found no price, so we treat the sale as likely but not confirmed. In 2026 he became a partner in Neuro, a gum and mints brand he had passed on in 2019, and in March 2025 Camino invested in Barry’s, LiveWell and Well Labs+.

Shark Tank pocket change

On the show his family office put $1 million into Yellow Leaf Hammocks for 25 percent in May 2020. By 2024 he was a full shark after guest spots in seasons 11 to 15. Those cheques are rounding errors beside Kind, which is why the investments row is small.

Why estimates disagree

Some may use the $5 billion price as if it were his, and others may ignore tax and the 2025 sale.

What would move it

A disclosed Kind payout, a Camino exit, or a hit among his Shark Tank picks. His 2017 pledge of $25 million to Feed the Truth is not deducted anywhere in our ledger.
