How much is Aravind Srinivas worth in 2026?
We put him at about $1.8 billion. Almost all of that is one private stake, and neither the company nor any filing we could open states its size. So we assume 10 percent, value it at the latest closed round we could find, and take off a discount because he can’t readily sell. This is a rough estimate: the valuation is reported, the stake is our assumption.
How Aravind Srinivas built it
- Trained at the top AI labs first. He worked at OpenAI, Google and DeepMind before founding Perplexity in 2022.
- Raised money round after round. Perplexity's valuation rose from about $520 million in January 2024 to $21.21 billion in early 2026.
- Took on a giant in public. Perplexity made an unsolicited $34.5 billion offer for Google's Chrome browser in August 2025.

| Source | Our estimate | What it rests on |
|---|---|---|
| Perplexity stake | $2.12 billion | Our assumption of 10 percent, for one of four co-founders after many funding rounds, applied to a $21.21 billion valuation from the early 2026 Series E-6. That is the latest closed round we found. |
| Discount for unlisted shares | Minus $318 million | Our assumption of 15 percent. Round prices are set for investor shares, which usually rank ahead of a founder’s, and there is no public market for his. |
| Pay and cash | $10 million | Our assumption, covering his salary and earlier research jobs. No figure is public, and we have seen no report of him selling shares. |
| Total | $1.8 billion | The rows add to $1.812 billion, rounded. |
A $34.5 billion offer from a man worth far less
In August 2025 Perplexity made an unsolicited $34.5 billion offer for Google’s Chrome browser, about double its own valuation then. Our calculation puts that bid at 19 times what we think its CEO is worth. It was a very loud way to introduce a search company, and it didn’t result in a sale.
What each percentage point is worth
Because the stake is the unknown, the useful number is the value of one point. By our calculation: 1 percent of the roughly $520 million January 2024 valuation was $5.2 million, and 1 percent of $21.21 billion in early 2026 is $212.1 million. That is a 40.8 times rise in about two years. Dilution means his own points fell while each one rose, which is the deal every founder in a funding race accepts.
After our 15 percent discount a point is worth about $180 million, so if he owns 8 percent rather than 10, take off about $360 million. Own 15 percent and add $900 million. Stake figures circulate online with no source we’d stand behind. Among the shareholders diluting him: Jeff Bezos, Nvidia, Tobias Lutke and, since December 2025, Cristiano Ronaldo.
The round that hasn’t closed
On August 23, 2026, The Information reported, and Reuters carried, that Nvidia was discussing an investment at more than $30 billion. The same report said annualized revenue had passed $750 million, up from under $250 million at the start of 2026. On those August 2026 figures, the talks price sits at 40 times annualized revenue. Perplexity declined to comment and we found no report that it closed, so we leave it out of the ledger.
Why other estimates disagree
Most public estimates start from a stake nobody has confirmed, and many were struck at the lower valuations of 2025. They also tend to treat founder shares as if they were worth the same as the investor shares that set the price.
What would move the number
A closed round above $30 billion would lift our figure to about $2.56 billion: 10 percent, less 15 percent, plus the same $10 million. An IPO would reveal the stake outright, though he said in March 2025 there were no plans to list before 2028. Anything that shrinks the valuation hits him directly, since there’s so little else on his balance sheet.
Before Perplexity
He grew up in Chennai, took an electrical engineering degree at IIT Madras and a computer science PhD at Berkeley, then worked at OpenAI, Google and DeepMind. He founded Perplexity in 2022, so none of this wealth is more than four years old.
