Gene Simmons’s net worth is estimated at about $180 million as of November 2026. The KISS bassist spent at least $13.35 million on a Los Angeles house and sold it 37 years later for $16 million, after first asking $25 million. His real payday came in 2024, when KISS sold its songs, name and likeness for a reported $300 million or more, and we think about 31 cents of each of those dollars reached him after tax.

How much is Gene Simmons worth in 2026?

We estimate Gene Simmons is worth about $180 million, within a range of $130 million to $250 million. The sale price comes from reporting and nobody has confirmed how the money was split, so this is an estimate built on labelled assumptions.

Public estimates run higher, and the gap is mostly arithmetic: they tend to treat a band’s headline price and tour gross as if they landed in one member’s account, with no line for the partner, the crew or the tax bill.

How Gene Simmons built it

  • Kept the partnership small. He said he and Paul Stanley were the partners while everyone else worked for the organization.
  • Sold soon after the last show. KISS sold its catalog, name and likeness in 2024, months after the final show.
  • Toured right to the end. The farewell tour grossed $89.8 million in its 2019 stretch alone, across 74 shows.

How we got to $180 million

Source Our estimate What it rests on
His half of the KISS sale $150 million Bloomberg reported more than $300 million, citing one person familiar with the deal. No split is public. We assume half, because Simmons has said he and Paul Stanley are the partners.
Tax on the sale Minus $56 million Our assumption: 37.1 percent, made of 23.8 percent federal capital gains tax and 13.3 percent for California. He may have paid less through deal structuring we cannot see.
End of the Road tour $16.5 million Our assumption: a $200 million gross (his own 2019 forecast was $150 million to $200 million, and Pollstar counted $89.8 million for the 2019 stretch alone), 30 percent profit, half to him, 45 percent income tax.
Earlier career $50 million Our assumption: 100 million-plus albums sold at $1 each to him across royalties, tours and merchandise, half of it kept after tax and spending. This is the softest row.
Property $16 million The 2021 Los Angeles sale price. A $10.5 million Beverly Hills purchase was reported weeks later, so we count the $16 million as the new house plus the change. He bought the old house with Shannon Tweed, so this row is a household figure. He also paid a combined $10.8 million for a Las Vegas home and lot in May 2021 and listed it that autumn at $14.95 million. We found no record of how that ended and count nothing extra for it.
Total $176.5 million, which we round to $180 million $150 million less $56 million, plus $16.5 million, $50 million and $16 million.

From $300 million to about 31 cents on the dollar

Pophouse Entertainment, the Swedish company behind Abba Voyage, bought the catalog, name, image and likeness, including master recordings and publishing, in a deal reported on April 4, 2024. We found no official statement of the price. The chief executive of Pophouse told the Associated Press it had bought all rights, while Simmons preferred to call it a collaboration.

Our calculation: half of $300 million is $150 million, and 37.1 percent tax takes $55.65 million, leaving about $94.35 million. Divide that by $300 million and you get about 31 cents per reported dollar. The whole deal also works out at $3 for each of the 100 million albums, which is a modest price for a brand that will keep performing without its owners.

That last part is the odd bit. Simmons told the AP the band won’t tour as KISS again, yet a digital avatar show is planned for 2027, built with motion capture.

Thirty-seven years, one house, 20 percent

Simmons and Shannon Tweed bought the Benedict Canyon property in 1984 for $1.35 million, property records show, and he said he put at least $12 million into it. The asking price in March 2021 was $25 million. It sold that autumn for $16 million, 36 percent below the first ask.

By our math he had $13.35 million in the house and took $16 million out, a gain of $2.65 million, or about 20 percent over 37 years. That is about $72,000 a year for the author of a book called Me, Inc. For scale, the opening night of the farewell tour in Vancouver grossed $1,551,414 for the band.

Where the partnership stopped

He said in 2019 that he and Stanley are the partners and “everybody else works for the organization”. Salaries were not disclosed, but that one line is why we credit him with half rather than a quarter of band money.

The side businesses are harder to price. Wikipedia lists Simmons Records from 1988, a magazine that lasted five issues, part ownership of an arena football team that shut in 2016, and Simmons/Hamilton Productions, announced in 2023 with a plan for 25 films in five years. We found no figures for any of them, so none has a row. Together they could add a few tens of millions or nothing at all.

What could change the number

The latest dated event we could find is the KISS Kruise: Landlocked in Vegas weekend, November 14 to 16, 2025, at Virgin Hotels, with no ticket revenue reported. The bigger swing would be any disclosure of what he keeps from the 2027 avatar show. If he has a share of it, as the word collaboration hints, this figure is too low. We found no statement on it from Pophouse.
