How much is Pony Ma worth in 2026?
Our figure is $40 billion, and more than 98 percent of it is one stock. That makes the method simple and the number jumpy. We price every stake on Alux on a fixed date, here October 26, 2026, and the shares had risen by November 3.
Public estimates differ mainly on date. The same shares were worth about $60.7 billion at the January low of HK$591.50, so a figure struck early in the year can sit 50 percent above ours. Others use an older stake percentage, or include shares he gave to his foundation.

|---|---|---|
| Tencent shares | $39.66 billion | 804,859,700 shares, 8.85 percent at December 31, 2025, held mostly through Advance Data Services, times the October 26, 2026 close of HK$386.40, at HK$7.8426 to the dollar that day. |
| Latest dividend | $540 million | HK$5.30 a share, paid June 1, 2026, on the same share count, is about $544 million. Assumption: he still holds it as cash or investments. |
| Property and art | $150 million | Wikipedia’s figure for his Hong Kong property and art, citing a 2015 report, plus mention of a redeveloped residence of about 19,600 square feet. Old and approximate, so treat it as a placeholder. |

What $32 million would have bought
Naspers paid about $32 million for roughly 46.5 percent of Tencent in 2001. That implies about $69 million for the whole company. By our calculation, 8.85 percent of it was worth about $6.1 million at that price. The same percentage is worth $39.66 billion now, about 6,500 times more. Ma was not a passive holder for that ride: his first job, at China Motion Telecom, reportedly paid $176 a month, and Tencent’s June 2004 Hong Kong listing raised $200 million.
A dividend that more than tripled
Tencent’s dividend has more than tripled in five years, from HK$1.60 a share in 2021 to HK$5.30 in 2026. On his current share count, the 2026 payment alone is about $544 million. We couldn’t open a pay figure, so we don’t compare the two. The five payments before it, HK$13.50 a share in all, would come to about $1.39 billion at today’s share count. We leave that out, and it would barely move a $40 billion number anyway.
The company is also shrinking its share count. In 2025 it bought back about 153.4 million shares for roughly HK$80 billion, on revenue of RMB751.8 billion. Buybacks raise his percentage without him buying anything.
The shares he gave away
In 2016 he moved 100 million Tencent shares to the Ma Huateng Global Foundation, then valued at $2.3 billion. We count none of that as his. At the October 26 close those shares would be worth about $4.93 billion, more than double the value on the day he gave them.
The figure moves about $1.03 billion for every HK$10 on the stock. The November 3 close of HK$397.20 would lift the shares to about $40.76 billion at the same exchange rate. His next dated change comes with Tencent’s next annual filing, which will update the share count we use.
