- Sold on a schedule. A trading plan adopted 20 May 2026 sold 17,308 shares on 13 October at $155 to $164.
- Kept the votes. Proxies on 45.9 million Class B shares give him about 76 percent of the votes.

We put Huffman at about $420 million. The count of shares and options comes from the company’s 2026 proxy statement and his own SEC filings, so this is better documented than most. Reddit fell 29 percent on 30 October 2026, to $91.73, so the price on the day you read this is the biggest unknown, followed by the average strike price of his options and how much tax he will owe.
Public estimates disagree for a simple reason. Huffman has the power to vote about 76 percent of Reddit’s votes, because two large shareholders gave him voting proxies over 45.9 million shares. Anyone who counts those shares as his adds more than $4 billion that he does not own.
How we got to $420 million
| Source | Our estimate | What it rests on |
|---|---|---|
| Class B shares | $283 million | The 2026 proxy statement shows 3,084,246 Class B shares held directly by his trust as of 31 March 2026. At $91.73, where Reddit closed on 30 October 2026 according to Yahoo Finance, that is $283 million. |
| Family trusts and stock units | $11 million | The proxy lists 82,760 shares in three family trusts and 37,381 stock units about to settle: 120,141 shares. An SEC Form 4 also shows 336,432 Class A shares in his main trust after the 13 October sales. They were not in the March table and may overlap with shares or options counted elsewhere, so we leave them out. |
| Exercisable options | $160 million | The proxy lists 1,748,596 Class A options and 664,957 Class B options he can exercise, 2,413,553 in all. One grant has a $25.29 strike; we assume that as the average. The gain is 2,413,553 times $66.44. |
| Cash from earlier sales and pay | $30 million | Assumption. He sells on a trading plan, and salary and stock awards over the years add up to a few million dollars a year. Reported pay for 2025 was $3.1 million. |
| Tax on the options | minus $64 million | We assume 40 percent of the option gain would go to federal and state tax if exercised. We take no tax off the shares, because they are not sold. |
The rows add up to $420 million. Options that have not yet vested are not counted. Reddit’s price is the swing factor: each $10 on the share price moves the total by about $46 million after the assumed tax. On 13 October he was selling at $155 to $164, and the stock now trades near $92.
A day’s selling against a year’s pay
The Form 4 for 13 October 2026 records nine separate sales by Huffman’s trust, 17,308 shares in total, under a trading plan he adopted on 20 May 2026. Our calculation: the proceeds are about $2.74 million. The strike cost was $25.29 times 17,308, or about $438,000, so the gain was about $2.3 million. His reported 2025 pay was $3,101,009, so one day of option sales came to roughly 88 percent of a year of reported compensation.
His 2023 compensation package, mostly stock awards and options, was valued at $193.2 million, according to his biography page. The sale does not make Reddit’s chief executive rich. It shows how his wealth works: an annual pay figure in the millions, and a stock position that is worth hundreds of times that.
The voting trick
Huffman himself owns about 6.1 percent of the votes. The 76.1 percent comes from irrevocable proxies on 45.9 million Class B shares held by Advance, Tencent-affiliated and one other investor, under voting agreements. He controls how they vote and does not own them. This is why our table counts none of them.
What would move the figure
His option grant vests quarterly through December 2028, so the total creeps up by itself as more options become exercisable. A large drop in Reddit shares would cut the number faster than any sale would, because most of it is stock gains.
