1Charles Bukowski – Live a little!
All of these are precious advice, but all will be in vein if you don’t really live your life and enjoy every step of the way! That’s why the No. 1 tip I have for you comes from Bukowski, the loved by some, condemned by others author.
If I were to summarize all the traits of his personality into just one phrase, I would go for one quote of his book, Factotum: “Baby, I’m a genius but nobody knows it but me.”
And he was indeed. Recognition came late in his life, but he always knew how to make fun of every bad thing that happened to him and never took life too serious.
He knew that, at the end of the day what matters is to live life to its fullest and to express your creativity. His thoughts on the creative act and what it means to be a writer are truly inspiring.
“What is terrible is not death but the lives people live or don’t live up until their death. Some people never go crazy, what truly horrible lives they must live.”
I found no better way to end this, but with a reading of one of Bukowski’s poems, that I hope will inspire and motivate you to set free the artist inside you.
