The Sun Also Rises has a misprint, on page 181, line 26 to be more specific. The mistake is the word “stopped” written with three ‘p’s resulting ‘stoppped’.
Because the book is so famous, its first edition is already rare and valuable without the misprint. A copy without the misprint can go for $40,000, but a copy in a good condition, even with the extra letter can be worth more than $60,000.
Rare books, like many collectible things are only worth as much as someone will pay at the time and prices are likely to change.
