3. Lottery Misprint: $250,000
The next misprint is so unfortunate. It happened in 2007 at a car dealership in Roswell, New Mexico.
The car dealership sent out 50,000 scratch-off ads offering a grand prize of $1,000.
All the buyers were the winners of $1,000 because a printer misprints the wrong numbers making every card a winner.
Of course, many people asked the company for the prize they won. In order to cover up the error and because it was not intended, the dealership offered everyone a $5 Walmart gift card.
Total costs of the gift cards made the car dealership to cash out $250,000.
They were lucky and got out cheaper, because the actual cost of fixing the mistake would have cost them $50 million.
*The Atlanta based Forced Events Direct Marketing Company held a $5,000 draw for anyone with a ticket to help satisfy the people.
They also gave away 20 other $1,000 prizes.
