4. Wicked Bible: $100,000
This misprint had a huge impact in 1631 when 1000 copies of the King James’s Bible were produced. Had a very important mistake in Exodus 20:14.
The misprint was at the seventh commandment read, “Thou shalt commit adultery.”
And so, the Bible that its misprint was promoting promiscuity became known as The Wicked Bible.
All the copies of the Wicked Bible were destroyed in a bonfire by King Charles orders. The remaining 11 copies are valued at $100,000.
Historians believe the typesetter may have been trying to get back at the printer for something, and his license was revoked.
